TownePlace Suites by Marriott Harrisburg Hershey

The individual checking is in was really nice. However, we called as we were about to arrive and he told us that the pool was broken and he could cancel our reservation. Well, after a long day at Hershey Park with 3 kids, we weren’t going to spend time looking for another hotel so we decided to stay. Upon arrival, the hotel looked accommodating. Check in was easy. We quickly got to our room. The room was smaller than pictures lead you to believe but still plenty of room for 5 of us. There was a damp, mildew smell to the room. The bathroom was not well cleaned. There was hair on the floor and around the toilet. At this point we were too tired to care. We started showering our children, but guess what? No refill on any shampoo, conditioner or body wash, so we had to wait. We decided to give it another shot as we were already set up in the room. We all finally fell asleep. Next morning, we went down for breakfast. It was okay. Typical spread of scrambled eggs, western omelette, bagels, bread, muffins, yogurt, Cheerios/Raisin Bran, juices, jams, waffle maker w/toppings. We quickly packed up and left after that night stay. I would not stay here again, as there are better properties in the area.

Hotel was just ok. Definitely needs updating. Staff was very nice.

The location was good if you were going into Harrisburg or Hershey PA

Well first the pros: Bed was very comfortable and front desk person was really funny with an easy check in. Now the cons and there is a lot. Will never ever stay here again. I am a member and this is the worse TownePlace suite I have ever stayed in. We reserved a two bedroom suite due to having the grandchildren with us. Was planning 1 of them in the bed in a room and the other on the pull out couch. Yeah well no bedding at all for the couch! This is suppose to be a fully stocked kitchen. No paper towels, no dish cloths, could not find cups but finally did they were in dishwasher. Housekeeping never emptied it. Wall plug did not work over the counter to plug in coffee pot had to put it on the table. 1/4 roll of toilet paper for 4 people no extra under sink. Called front desk and they did send 2 rolls right away that was a plus. The breakfast was absolutely horrible when kids say it’s bad it’s bad. Juice machine broke. Oatmeal was like absolutely glue! Bagels and bread stale. Scrambled eggs horrible. No large regular paper plates. Had to use the very small paper plates the size like only a sandwich would fit on. Nothing in the cooler like yogurt, small milks. Just 2 quarts of reg milk oh and a container of Hershey syrup, nothing to drink at all!! We travel a lot and I hardly review hotels but this one is horrible and for the price we paid, I had to!!!

We just checked in. I am shocked that this is part of the Marriott chain. The curtains are ripped; the floor is dirty; the wash clothes are rough and paper thin; the place is outdated and unclean. We are platinum Marriott members and we've never stayed at a Marriott that was disappointing like this. The hot tub and pool are not available either. 😔
