Hotel Riviera

This hotel is a few metres from Plaza Grimaldi, the centre of Avora's old town. While its location is therefore excellent, this charming old hotel has seen many lives. Its most recent renovation has resulted in many minor changes in floor level - watch out you don't trip. Without a lift, tripping is a hazard, especially while you're lugging your bags up the stairs. The rooms are small but scrupulously clean. The ensuite bathrooms are small-to-tiny but have everything. It's location is the hotel's primary selling point (although the narrow street can be noisy), and the staff are well-trained and friendly. Breakfast was disappointingly meagre, with little choice.

We stayed two nights at this hotel and unfortunately our experience was not very good. Here is a summary of the good and bad things: Positives: - Location: the hotel is very very central - appearances: it has nice old furniture and a pretty ceiling made out of old bricks - light: our room had big windows and was filled with sunlight - parking options in walking distance (needs upfront reservations - 10€ per night) Negative: - very very noisy: noice comes from outside and insight (thin walls, the wooden floors even increases the noice) - smell: the rooms smell like they look - old! The areas around the windows are moldy. - bathroom: strongly needs to be renewed. There was black mold between the tiles and at the ceiling. - cleanliness: we found an old dusty shirt and a check older than a month!!! under the bed. This even topped the pubic hair on the bathroom floor. Breakfast was very basic: one choice of ham, of cheese, and only two kind of marmalades. The coffee was bad, no yoghurt, no fresh fruits or vegetables. Good was the fresh orange juice and the fresh fruit salad.

Wonderful location in the center of it all. Tiny room in an ancient building. Parking near here is impossible. You need to park outside the city walls and walk in. But once youre settled, its a nice location to walk the whole town. Nice breakfast.

Yup its noisy. Bring earplugs any time you go to Europe anyway. Ok, that’s out of the way. Love this hotel. It’s old, time worn and has character to burn. Nice sitting room on floor levels. Room had comfy couch and chairs! Beds were very comfortable. Big bathroom. Extra blankets and pillows in closet. Completely satisfactory breakfast. Excellent, professional staff. Its in the middle of everything!! Very reasonable price. Earplugs r cheap! Stay here.

The hotel is centrally location in a walking street near the central plaza. There is no elevator and no access to the hotel by taxi (two blocks away), but staff helpful with suitcases and guidance on the area. It is a renovated old building with old time charm. Very pleasant 2 day stay for me.

Stayed here for one night in Oct 2017. Had a very spacious room that was fitted out nicely in an older style befitting the building. The bedding was comfortable and the room was very clean. We had an issue with noise rising up from the street. It was the first week of university and students were running rampant most of the night so not sure whether this is usually this noisy. The breakfast in this hotel was inedible and we went elsewhere. The hot water form the kettle was black and looked like it hadnt been cleaned in years. There was not enough room for people to eat and we had to stand. The food itself was very poor and so we left. The staff were generally very helpful and the hotel is very conveniently located.

Carlos was extremely helpful. It is lovely and recently renovated. Great central location .... and yet, quiet.

Great location. Hard to find with a car. Friendly, helpful front desk staff. Poor water pressure in shower. TV was tiny.

Comfortable and quiet room. Staff ready to help and to give advices. Breakfast good and varied.
