This hotel is all about location! The views from the top of the hill are amazing! The property used to be a private villa from an opulent local family. Room is absolutely beautiful: huge and comfy bed, living area, wooden floors, picturesque bathroom (good amenities) +++ views! The common areas are a little bit torn, but they didn’t loose their style. Staff very wellcoming and sympathetic! The only con i found was breakfast: pretty much basic and unorganized. All in all is an excellent property! Consider a mean of transportation to move to and from the hotel, or a decent shape to go down all the steps and climb them up the way back!

A spectacular colonialesque site overlooking the UNESCO city of Guanajuato from on high, with shades of past glories. At night the sparkling city lights up the walls of the valley are reminiscent of La Paz in miniature, a freeze frame of a multicoloured firework explosion. Take dinner on the terrace enjoying this vista. The Refugio Suite was huge with massive windows onto the beautiful 180 degree panorama of the city, but there is an air of antiquity muffling the potential. The bathroom, complete with bath larger than some swimming pools I’ve seen, is quirky (stylised dolphin motif taps and rails reminiscent of a DeMille set) and in serious need of reformation. Shaving mirror - bonus points! Excellent bed and linen. Good breakfast. Good dinner. Except for the experience driving through the the astonishing and seemingly endless maze of intersecting subterranean tunnels to the limited central car parking is best avoided, enjoy the exercise of the countless steps... Bit of a hike to the funicular to descend in a cabin the size of a telephone kiosk to the centre. Shades of Katherine Hepburn appearance in "Suddenly Last Summer".

Amazing views from Room, just a couple minutes walk to El Pipila. Room was HUGE and everyone working at the Hotel were amazing. My only Negatives were the bathrooms. They were huge, but they needed to be updated. The Shower is a water wasting shower. Gallons of water flow from shower head, wish they would update to a water friendly shower. Also only one of the 2 vanities were working, and the working one only had the cold water working. Wish the furniture was also set up better to enjoy the incredible views. I saw that they were building more room, i hope they take advantage of the amazing views for the new construction.

We stayed two nights at the top of one of the many cerros...mountain tops that surround the city of Guanajuato.This hotel was excellent in all aspects.The spacious room,ample parking secured,fine food in the restauraunt,freindly staff ...where should I stop.We will definetly be back.AND the view of the whole city is fabulous.One of the top of the BEST hotels here.You will not be disappointed.

Staff receptive and provided a room of our choice. Staff acknowledged and greeted at all times of interaction. Warm and inviting hotel.

Besides being hard to find, hotel is fine. It is outdated though so don't expect modern anything. Needs maintenance. Had to change rooms on last day because of a broken window latch that kept slamming into window due to extremely windy condition during nights.

We loved the hotel and the staff. The room has the most expectacular view of the city. It's a great option when traveling for vacation.

I enjoyed my stay at the hotel although it was very noisy. I could hear many people talking in the hallways or other rooms on different occasions.

The location was amazing !
