Hotel Misión Grand Casa Colorada

We stayed at this very interesting property for 3 nights. The rooms were large and very well appointed. Views of the city below were beautiful. Reception service was solid but, the restaurant was almost non functional from a service perspective. The property is located on a ridge overlooking the historic center of Guanajuato. There are no restaurants other than the one in the hotel in close proximity. Walking to the historic center would take probably 25 minutes...all downhill. The walk back up would take double that. We ate 2 dinners in the hotel's restaurant. Both nights the service was terrible....slow to a fault and the food arrived cold. If I had to do it again, I would stay somewhere closer, if not within, the historic center of the city.

I had booked a reservation here for October and had to cancel my Mexican vacation. Everywhere else I had a reservation was easily cancelled by e-mail except this hotel. I e-mailed them twice a week apart, then went on the main hotels mision website that offered chat. A nice woman said I had to cancel with the hotel direct but gave me 3 e-mail addresses (one was the one I had already tried) and the phone number. I e-mailed all 3 addresses and 6 days later no response. I just called at about 10 AM their time and no one answered the phone. They say they are a 5 star place but their customer service is horrible. I guess I will keep calling as trying to e-mail for 16 days got no response !!!

The view and location of this 6 room boutique Hotel is wonderfull. Service is good, however rooms need little maintenance to keep up with the price and expectations. breakfast should be included in the price, which is higher of other places in town. NoTE: Ghost stories and ghostly experiences are possible... if you believe in those things....

Located approx 3 km from the historic center so you have to take a taxi to get around as it’s not within walking distance to anywhere. The room is spacious with an amazing view of the city. The hotel is a bit run down. The menu at the restaurant was limited and could have been better especially because it was the only place to eat at the hotel. The service, however, was very good. Cecilia at the Front Desk was always gracious.

The location is kind of far from the city but the view is so good. The room clean. I had some complaints for the staff but it does not affect the quality of the hotel. The receptionist cannot speak English. We ordered the presendential suite,but they gave us the regular room at first. We wait for over 30 min for our breakfast.

We liked the location, the infrastructure and the view of the city. Bring cash as all ATMs are located in the city center. Things the hotel needs to improve: Poor maintenance (bathrooms were leaking, the coffee machine did not work), the front desk staff did not provide solutions and information for basic tourist needs (transportation and tours for instance), service at the restaurant is good but it takes too long.

The view is amazing!! The room was super clean and I like the detail such as how they put the tower and tissue! They provide Iphone speaker even! Wonderful place!!!

The room had a great view and the hotel was nice. We traveled in February so the temperature got down to 40 each night (3) and the heat was not working. Our room was ice cold and I slept with sweats on and under 4 blankets. I froze when I got out of the shower. The WiFi service was not good in the room either. We paid about $145 plus tax about $175/night so I would of expected better service with the heater and WiFi.

The hotel itself is in a good location, however they had conferences two of the three days we were there and while they didn't go on late into the night it was still annoying in what is supposed to be a small hotel. Especially since our room was directly above the restaurant. I never really got a good signal from the WiFi, this isn't really a problem for me but I know it is for a great many people. Half of the lights in our bathroom didn't work, and neither did the hair dryer. Good thing I brought my own. The beds are very comfortable and the linens were great as well. The view from our room of Guanajuato were spectacular and the room is also very spacious, I would recommend closing the inner door in your room otherwise the noise in the lobby and hallway is very loud. Also I would have appreciated not being given a survey to take of the hotel when checking out and the desk person sits right there while you fill it out, that hardly makes the client be as forthcoming in their opinions. I would probably try another property in Guanajuato in the future.

We loved our room with its windows overlooking the city (even the tub had a window overlooking the city!). It was clean and well-supplied with lovely Italian soaps and lotions and soft terry bathrobes. We also had a delicious dinner in the dining room and breakfast the next morning. The staff were courteous and helpful and we'll definitely recommend this beautiful hotel to friends.
