Hotel Misión Grand Casa Colorada

The hotel is an old "Hacienda / Ranch" it is a great place if you are wanting to be away from the crowds, however getting into the city is quite complex (10 mins walking on a high speed road + Funicular) or via taxi since it is located on top of a mountain with a wonderful view... The maintenance of the room, especially the bathroom is pretty bad

Great location and view! About 10mins walk to pipila. You can oversee the entire Guanajuato from the balcony.

I should have read reviews better. The only thing this hotel has going for it is the view. Should never be rated 4*. Room was only minimally cleaned, flies in the window and bed. The bathroom fixtures were falling off and water dripping. The shower did not drain. The carpet was stained and torn. The curtains had holes. The staff were not rude but offered no existence, information on the hotel or about the city. The Wifi did not work most of the time. Food was mediocre at best. I would recommend that Mision hotel corporation take a visit to see this property and make some drastic changes if they are going to continue carrying it in their line.

This hotel is cold and heartless. Was planning a Christmas trip to Guanajuato when I learned two months prior that I have cancer. Treatments started immediately, which ruled out travel for several months. When we contacted the hotel and explained our situation (even offering to send medical documentation) the lack of any human compassion was surprising. I get it, there's a no refund policy... but I have no doubt the two months' notice we provided enabled them to re-book our room with no problem. Even a partial refund, or like the airlines, a credit for a future stay would have been a gesture of human kindness. I felt like I was being kicked when I was already on the ground. So, traveler beware... I would venture that this lack of any semblance of compassion that was shown to me is just as manifest in the service they provide their guests.

Just got back from my one night stay here. Was truly disappointed in my selection with hotel. The place is old and falling apart. The bathroom fixtures are falling off, tiles are broken everywhere, the curtains have holes in them. On top of that the place is filthy. I literally had to wipe down my headboard and the bathroom countertop. (See pic attached)of dust I collected off my head board and dirty sink area with hair from previous guests. If it wasn’t for our late into the night 12:30am arrival I would have ran out of there fast. The only thing good about this place is the view. But this is definitely not worth staying at this creepy dirty place. Needless to say we did not get a goods night rest. The place is in desperate need of renovations. You can definitely find a better place to stay at that is closer town and better priced. On top of it all it is way overpriced. I will say the staff and especially the woman at Check in was nice and helpful.

I had the mos wonderful time ever at this hotel!

I have to say it was the worst experience ever. I booked 2 rooms more then 3 months in advance. When we arrived after traveling all night they said we only booked one room blaming me for the error. After i found the reservation confirmation from July clearly showing 2 rooms booked. The person then started blaming Expedia for the error. Never offering an apology or solution. We left exhausted and searched for a hotel on one of the busiest weekends of the year (cervantino). After we told them we wanted to cancel they offer to look for a room at a sister hotel. At this point, we wanted nothing more to do with them and left. We called our travel booking company who confirmed that we had reserved two rooms. What made it worse was that it was a present for my brother’s birthday which was that day. I can understand that mistakes happen but their nasty way of dealing with it when they were wrong and we had travel all night made it a horrible experience.

The presidential suite was very large, comfortable and with great views. The hotel location is not convenient for exploring the city if you don’t have your own car there. We had to take taxis every time we wanted to visit the city or go downtown for meals. We had some problems during our stay. I realized the waiter added 15% to our restaurant bill despite being asked to add 10%. We pointed this out to the manager, who said we’d be reimbursed, which never happened. The real issue was not the tiny amount concerned but the break of trust. On our second day, we arrived at 2:30 pm after lunch and found our rooms not cleaned. We were told room cleaning took place between 1 and 3 pm only and waited in the lobby until the room was ready at 3 pm. Then on our last day, we had to leave to the airport at 7:30 am without breakfast, as the kitchen was still closed, and despite being told upon checking in that breakfast was from 7 to 11 am. The receptionist at that time said it actually started at 7:30, but if it were really the case, why didn’t the other receptionist who knew we were leaving earlier and that breakfast was included in the rate, didn’t mention anything? It was another example we had of a lacking service during our stay in different Mexican cities, despite choosing only 4 and 5-star hotels. A positive note to the kind lady that cleaned the rooms and did our checkin when we arrived and the receptionist was nowhere to be seen.
