Hotel Riu Montego Bay - Adults Only - All Inclusive

Well me and my wife got back from Riu Montego Bay yesterday and wow. Let me give my honest review. The welcome upon arrival was great pre checked in with the Riu class app and was greeted with a very welcoming rum punch. Not the best but hey after 10 hours of flying anything is welcome with rum in it. The animation team are simply one of the best around big shoutout to Astro,,Afro, Susie Q ms TT and last but not least TyTy. You guess was amazing from day one made us welcome and made us get involved with all the beach game. One love and respect to you all. The hotels dress policy is a bit strange in my opinion. Men make sure you cover your arms for dinner time meals. But ladies can wear what they want even if it doesn’t leave much to your imagination. Yet they claim you’re meant to dress respectfully and dignified. So would love an explanation on this one strange policy’s. Bar staff are ok their mood gets better towards the afternoon. Drinks are great and mostly drinkable. Pools are very very warm roughly 31 degrees C in the afternoon so not very cooling at all but hey it’s the Caribbean you’ll get used to it. Beach is nice but if your looking for shade then your going to be playing mission impossible. All in all the hotel is very lively and enjoyable with a few games throughout the day. Please get involved it’s a great way to make new friends. But anyway that’s my opinion and is as honest as I can be. One love. And respect Tom & Kim Mortimer

A great trip with my partner ruined by a member of staff stealing money from my room, if your travelling with cash I’d advise not to use the safe as I’ve seen reviews of the safe being unsafe, I left my money in my bag it just kept being short I had around £300 English and $250 dollars stole reported it to the hotel but was useless. So if you’re travelling with cash I’d say keep it on you. Other than that hotel was good vibes perfect for couples.

The room was very nice and the food was great.

Good sized and well fitted bedroom. Two double beds. Shower, no bath. good Balcony. Good A/C and fan. Daily entertainment day and night to 2230 then disco if you need it to 0130. Good variety of food. Noisy buffet. Staff work hard to please customers. Book one of the other three restaurants if you want a more intimate meal. Good location 10 minutes taxi from the airport. Atmosphere friendly and efficient staff. The hotel is kept to a hight standard of cleanliness by an army of staff. Value not cheap but you get what you pay for.

My husband and me spent 11 nights here recently. We booked a private taxi to pick us up at the airport as we wanted to beat the queues with the Tui coach arriving. Thank goodness we did as we breezed through the checking in process at reception. I had previously emailed the hotel to ensure we could get a ground floor room, they had my request already and were happy to assist my request. We were allocated a ground floor room not too far from the main area so had a good view of the swimming pool and main entertainment area. Our room was huge, Nadine was our housekeeper and did a great job in keeping our room nice and clean. Food in the buffet was great although it was rather repetitive but the staff worked extremely hard and we always enjoyed our meals. We ate in the chinese twice but you don't have to book there it's a first come first serve. Best meal was our steakhouse meal which you can book on the Riu app. My only disappointment with the hotel is the insanely loud entertainment that took place every afternoon in the Roots swim up pool. We were aware that this was a lively resort, so although there are five pools so you can choose a quieter pool which is what we did but the shouting at mega decibels every day just seemed well over the top. The entertainment team were amazing with their enthusiasm and energy so this crazy loudness that went on spoilt it for us. It was really like an 18-30's orgy!!! We have stayed in Riu hotels before and welcome great entertainment but not at mega decibels. If you love the party stuff and are under 30 go for it but if you want quiet and relaxation then book elsewhere. We sadly will not be booking this particular hotel again for this very reason but will definitely be returning to Jamaica.
