Hotel Riu Montego Bay - Adults Only - All Inclusive

Chose this hotel as it showed it had a good vibe for all ages (adults only) Upon arrival the check-in was super quick (check in on the RIU app makes it much easier) We are handed our room cards and towel cards and there was a porter to take our suitcases if we wanted. We had asked for a quieter part of the hotel (we like our sleep) and also for our rooms to be close together also. We were in block 4 which was right at the far side of the hotel and on the 1st floor one room apart. There are no lifts but 1 floor is nothing if you are capable of carrying a suitcase up. The room upon entering feels cool with the fan and air conditioning on. There was a huge king size bed (some have double pushed together). The room is exactly as they describe on their website and our balcony overlooked absolutely nothing but palms (perfect!) if you book direct you can request a particular area or floor. The walk from the restaurants to the room is only about 5 minutes and in the warm evening air is quite refreshing. All restaurants are along the main building walkway so not hard to find. The buffet and Asian restaurant are non-booked and you can always find a seat no matter what time you go. The main buffet restaurant food choices are incredible and cater to almost all palettes. The staff are super vigilant and almost instantly at your table pouring water (trust me they know that hydration is important!!) they take your drink order and you can go up anytime to the buffet. Yes it can get growed at peak time but they don’t run out of anything. The Asian restaurant is also buffet and again there are no issues with getting seating when you walk in. The steakhouse, Sophia’s (Italian) and the Kulinarium are bookable only and you can only book once you arrive and have your room number and only for 3 days in advance. My advice is be up early and get those booked whilst having your morning brew! We never had any issues getting the times we wanted. The food in both the steakhouse and Sophia’s are few choices but they are top notch. We never tried the Kulinarium as that is a fine dining restaurant and we felt we would have needed more after leaving. There is also Pepe’s and that is only open during the day for lunch and is very good for a midday meal if you don’t fancy the walk back to the restaurant area. It is situated next to roots bar just off the beach. Lastly you have the sports bar which offers 24/7 drink, sandwich’s, hot dogs, hamburgers and nachos. It’s self serve for the food and staff are there for your drinks. There are 5 pools for swimming 1 is the swim up bar which does get packed quickly. But there were plenty of loungers around each pool area. The splash pool was never busy and you can go down each slide as many times as you like. The beach area is well looked after and again plenty of loungers. There is a dedicated water-sports area offering pedelos, kayaks and paddle boards for feee use to hotel guests. They also offer sailing (you need your license), scuba diving and catamaran cruises. The hotel does have an on-site shop which has some clothes, souvenirs, basic supplies but appreciate it will come with a higher price. If you feel brave enough across from the hotel (a 5 minute walk) is a shopping mall which has a pharmacy, supermarket, souvenir shops and food outlets. Outside the hotel you will have pedlars or taxis but a polite thank you and keep walking they will leave you alone. The entertainment through the day and night is by far the best thing! In the daytime the entertainment staff are by the pools, bars checking in on guests and getting them hyped. At night they put on a marvellous show with each night having a different theme. Overall the hotel is very good and has something for everyone.

Didn't like how the resort credit worked.

Located in the flight path of the airport. Planes taking off over head every 10 to 20 minutes the entire time we were there. The atmosphere is a Walmart party day and night very noisey but has an area that's quiet and more relaxed. My issue is the hotel allows the locals to hang out there and try to sell you cheap trinkets and weed literally all day and night. And they wont leave you alone. The rooms were nice and clean. Local cable TV only, really bad. The mini bar is stocked with cheap liqour. The hotel has a gym but gets crowded all day. The spa was nice offered a variety of treatments at a decent cost. The buffet and so called premium restaurants are absolutely garbage. The hotel has a sports bar that is tiny with only 2 tvs that only have local cable sports on. The sports bar also only have 2 pool tables that you have to pay to use. Most of the staff are friendly some were down right rude. They have a small store on site where everything is marked up 300%. You could go across the street to Witter mall but everyone there will try to hustle you and sell you weed.

Riu Mobay was very clean and had amazing staff. There is a lot of variety in the buffet. I don’t expect much from buffets as they have to cater to everyone. Once I added the escovich sauce and scotch bonnet sauce I was good to go. Shout out to the amazing staff that went above and beyond: Waiters and waitresses, Nicole, kimone, Shantelle, Jahmarie, Alison, and Brittany. Front desk Jhasien. Lifeguards Orando and Youan. Luggage staff Jermaine. Staff Lincoln.

Beautiful beach side hotel. Ample sunbeds and great food including a fantastic vegetarian range. The entertainment team were such good fun with so much energy!! It is a lively resort and you will get hassled by the boat men in the sea selling mostly weed! Once you’ve told them no thank you though they do move into someone else! All staff are so friendly and the hotel is very clean. Myself and friend had an amazing time, squeezing in lots of sightseeing too with a great tour guide called junior. We will definitely go back
