Location great! Room wonderful over looking the sea. Staff very friendly

They charge £20 each for breakfast which I think is a bit steep. Also I think it puts allot of people off, which is a shame as the breakfast room is lovely.

The staff were very welcoming and attentive

The only thing I can mention was the price we were offered 20 % discount for next booking but even with that for a 4 night stay in July it amounts to £880 pound

Great room, great location and typical English.

Good amount of space in room. Lovely sea view. Clean. Food was good and offered a complimentary wine. The staff were friendly and dressed smartly.

The bed was very uncomfortable. Very worn out. Marks in the corner of the room. Plaster blown down the wall next to the bath. Guessing it was damp at some point.

This beautiful old building is in a great location for theatre visits. We were only here one night and this location served our purposes perfectly. The hotel however was disappointing, the photos in the website do not show how tired the decor is and how much this place needs some TLC. Definitely overpriced based on this. The carpets in the corridors were stained and outside our room was a very large stain which didn’t look like any attempt had been made to clean it. While the bedroom was clean and the views and size were great the paintwork was badly scuffed and could easily have been fixed with a quick lick of paint while the bathroom was basic at best. The basin had no plug but that wasn’t an issue as the drainage was so slow it filled as soon as you ran the tap and took 10 mins to clear. Having a shower was ok , pressure good but the “bath” towels were tiny and I’m only 5ft 2” This building has so much potential it is a shame. Breakfast was also a let down , slow service and we saw our food come and go back to the kitchen before it was served. Food was luke warm and served in really cold plates. Reception staff were friendly, competent and welcoming but dining room staff needed a little more urgency and charisma. Everything that marked this hotel down is easily fixed and considering we are at the start of the season I would have expected much better.

Very convenient location overlooking sea front and close to all amenities and 24 hour parking directly opposite the hotel for £2.50 a day with ticket purchased from reception. A spacious, clean hotel with a beautifully decorated dining room. The staff were very welcoming, pleasant and helpful.

The breakfast was very disappointing. Overcooked bacon and sausage and undercooked, over seasoned egg is not good value for £20. We had to ask for extra pillows as they were too flat for our liking. Our biggest gripe was the inadequate space available in our room to make a cup of tea which was on a very small low level table almost at ground level. We had to buy bottles of water and fresh milk every day as we do not like uht milk sachets. There was also a fixed low level mirror on the dressing table which you had to crouch down on the floor to see into which would not be ideal for elderly guests with mobility issues. Just to be nit picky It might have been kinder to leave an extra sachet of biscuits for 2 guests instead of one sachet, especially for the price we were paying.
