POOR LIFT

Nice facilities but needs a facelift or refurb. Great location for opera house, bars and restaurants. Reasonably easy to park right outside. staff are friendly and efficient. Our room was comfortable and quiet. The bathroom was clean, nice towels, a good shower a great breakfast. It could have been cleaner in and around the bedroom area. It’s an old building and needs some TLC to make it lighter brighter and more modern. For folks with challenging mobility - the floors can be uneven

Breakfast was great, made better by the very personable young man on duty 20th May. He was excellent in every way, anticipating requirements before shortages, assisting hesitant guests and making the very best use of his time. (I've spent a lifetime training staff in various businesses). Location was perfect for Buxton Opera House.

Bathroom was lovely BUT no decent shelf for the paraphernalia needed for an overnight stay for two people these days. This is common in many hotels.

It’s clearly an old building, and I’m afraid it’s gone past being quaint and actually looks tatty. The services - staff, food, and the welcome are warm and first class. Our room - 33 - the bathroom was clean but the bedroom was very dusty and neededed a good clean. While it’s old - there are some tweaks that would brighten and make it feel fresh like better furniture and new curtains.

Breakfast was plentiful but stone cold , no bar open upon arrival although was told it was ,

We have stayed at the old hall once before, it's a great location for the opera house and pavilion. The room was fine, but in dire need of a good clean, I dont think the dressing table has seen a duster for a good few weeks! The beds are lovely and comfy and the shower was nice and powerful, just a shame the in house cleaning let's it down. Stayed in room 33 which would not be ideal for anyone who is not very steady on their feet, as you would expect in an old building the floors are not flat.

The peacefullness of the area the room was lovely 4 poster bed extremely comfortable warm and clean. Very welcoming the staff couldnt do more for you cant wait to return and stay again 5 star
