Old Hall Hotel

I have stayed at the Old Hall Hotel in uxton a number of times over the years and every time I stay ther I get less ennamored with it. I am in my late 70's as is my lady who has mobility problems but yet again we found orselves dragging luggage up two flights of stairs - no lift, no offer of help. When we got to our room, which was OK for a one night stay it struck me that if there was a fire in the main stairwell or it was smoke filled you would be in serious trouble. Maybe there is an alternative that I missed. I think the Old Hall is aging faster than me. It seems to be getting more and more tired but it is dammed convenient for the Opera House.

Breakfast excellent. Location excellent. Beautiful hotel but very tired.

Dirty entrance , no tv available in room because no remote control. Staff couldn’t care less when reported and very offhand and unhelpful.

Check in took 20mins as the hotel did not have our booking from booking.com the staff were great but it just took time to resolve.

The hotel is well situated for the train station , opera house, and attractions in Buxton. The staff are helpful and friendly. The room was spacious, clean and the beds were very comfortable. The bathroom was clean, towels were good quality and the toiletries were nice. A good tea tray was provided.

The staff reacted well at a problem that occurred on our stay and moved us to an alternative room.

We would have preferred more choice on the dinner menu especially as it was the same for both nights of our stay. The lift was old and temperamental.

Breakfast room was clean, food good & service good.

Hotel is looking very tired inside, carpets in need of a clean, bedroom has wall paper coming away.
