"Elegant friendly inn, some maintenance issues."

8.0

The Inn is an elegant building and is very well located near shops and restaurants. The common areas are attractive and welcoming. Our room was quite large and the decor charming. We appreciated coffee in the room and a nice breakfast. However, the bathroom was pretty bad. Very tiny with almost no place to put toiletries. Floor tiles and fixtures are badly in need of scrubbing or re-grouting. The staff is friendly and helpful, but I wish they would have had someone to help us get our bags up to our room. We had to put things on the warn and creaky luggage cart, push it up a long ramp, then to our room. We are senior citizens and would have liked some assistance. I guess I would still recommend this inn, we did enjoy our time there.

"The hotel needs a big refurbishment"

3.0

Beautiful building in the heart of the oldest part of town

Dusty and dirty, wallpaper peeling off, skirting boards looked if theyโ€™d not been cleaned for a long time. Upholstery ripped, mildew in bathroom.

"Magical and Cozy"

10.0

A wedding brought us to The Beaufort Inn, where we stayed in the King Suite (which has the cute 3rd story balcony seen in the photo). The room was gorgeous, clean, and comfy. The historical decor and the cozy outdoor balcony gave it a magical quality. The employees were very helpful with any questions, from where to park to local recommendations. The Inn is in a great central location for walking the historical downtown area.

"Wonderful weekend getaway"

10.0

Wonderful location, able to walk to everything in town. Loved checking out the Spanish moss bike/walk trail with the complimentary bicycles, a must see! We did not have time to drive over to the beachfront but wish we could have, next time! Service was exceptional at the Inn!

"Historic? More like horrific!"

2.0

There is โ€œhistoric and charmingโ€ and then there is โ€œneglected and falling into disrepairโ€. The Beaufort Inn is neglected, in need of serious maintenance and preservation. We booked a 2-night stay. Upon late arrival we were escorted to our room by a very kind front desk gentleman. Immediately upon opening the door I commented that it really smelled musty and moldy, not in a historic kind of way. We requested a room change but unfortunately, he was not able to offer an alternative room. He said someone would contact us in the morning with options. No one did. Thank goodness we were not spending much time in the room. This was the worst accommodation we have ever stayed in, especially for the price! Dirty, lack of basic maintenance and in a historic area, absolutely neglected. The room itself had damage to the wall from chairs, stains on the vents and doors, rot on wood windows, mildew around the shower and the bathroom sink was barely hanging on. Paint was chipping, a really good cleaning for dust and dirt is long overdue. Thank goodness there was a dehumidifier in the room (in March?) that at least pulled some of the moldy/musty smell, but we had to empty it twice during our short stay. Clearly, management knew there was an issue since they had a dehumidifier in the room. When fresh towels were provided, they must have been on the ground or left under a tree as they were full of debris. Tried to enjoy a morning coffee outside, to get out of the room, daylight highlighted how bad it was, but the seating areas were useless because the cushions were filthy, partly from the pollen season but partly from neglect. When I asked for an extra towel to wipe them down the staff indicated they were out of clean towels. I read the reviews before booking. Some cite similar observations, some were glowing. Perhaps it depends on your room. Suggest you avoid the Chisholm Cottage! Lesson learned, never again. You are better off somewhere else. Such a shame. Do better Beaufort Inn, you should be embarrassed. Not a good experience for the city. Will never stay here again

"False Advertising! Do not stay here!"

4.0

Dirty rooms with mold. No privacy. FALSE advertising. The photos of the rooms are beyond misleading. Privacy is non-existent. You can hear through the walls. Almost all of rooms are just modified duplexes/apartment buildings with shared entryways and balconies. We booked one room for almost $500 a night for a romantic evening and they tried to put us in a cheaper room thinking we would not notice. It was damp, moldy and I found a bug in the room. Once I complained that it did not match our reservation, they suddenly told us about an alleged A/C issue and tried to put us in a "better room". The furniture was damaged and the shower was moldy in that room and in NO way was this comparable to the reservation we made a month prior. Park passes, breakfast and bicycle rentals are "complimentary" but yet they charge you $18 a day resort fee to have access. I do not recommend staying here at all.

"Nearly $400 a night for a dirty room and empty breakfast trays."

2.0

Our two-bed cottage at the Beaufort Inn had a visibly dirty toilet and stained carpet upon arrival. The phone system was down, so reaching the front desk required walking there in person โ€” where I overheard another guest being told they were out of toilet paper until โ€œtomorrowโ€™s shipment.โ€ Breakfast the next morning was mostly empty serving dishes. For a hotel positioned as upscale, this level of cleanliness and service is unacceptable. I would not return.
