Holiday Inn Accra Airport, an IHG Hotel

I was excited to be in Ghana, for the first time even though it was for work and I stayed at this hotel. I waited for the shuttle service at their offices in the airport. And the ladies there were quite welcoming and polite and even offered me a coffee. Going by their demenour, I had expectations of having quite a lovely stay. The hotel is a stone throw away from the airport and we got there pretty quickly. The check in process was very smooth and Sarah was very professional and courteous. At this point, let me mention that the front office desk during my stay was helpful and I appreciate that on my second day, the manager allocated a hotel driver to drop me off at work as it was raining heavily. I was ushered to my room on the 4th floor and immediately upon entering, I was hit with a smell I can only describe as a sewage smell. I immediately called the reception and Sarah was very kind enough to change my room. After waiting a while, I was allocated another room still on the 4th floor. The same musty, sewage smell was prevalent in this room too! Suffering jetlag, I choose to up the AC and rest first. The rooms are dated, the sheets were not clean and that smell.. Breakfast options were okay. But the service I received at the restaurants was one of the worst I have ever experienced in my travels. The lady at the egg station, with a name starting with E, was quite hostile and downright rude. I thought maybe she was having a bad day until I saw her smiling widely and greeting the other guests that went after me. After two days of hosility, I stopped ordering eggs all together. The wait staff equally were cold and stoic but smiley and nodding at the other guests. As if this was not enough, on my last night there, I went to hang out at the restaurant adjacent to the pool. I sat there a full 23minutes before a Caucasian man sat two tables down and received immediate service. 5mins after his beer was served, the waiter reluctuantly brought me a menu and asked if I wanted to order. I do not want to make any conclusions based on my poor experience at this hotel but I know I will not be staying here ever again on my work trips to Ghana and will not be recommending it.

Beautiful, clean, quiet and accessible hotel with a shuttle bus service from airport. Nice place to stay!

The Internet in the hotel is very bad

I will always stay here. Prices are always good and reasonable. Food was available 24 hours and they had many varieties to choose from. Staff are respectful and kind. They will go along way to accommodate your request.

From lobby till the room humidity smell was super bad

Beautiful hotel with a respectful staff. Food was fantastic and the rooms were clean and large. I can’t wait to go back! As soon as you walk in you’ll see local art sculptures and paintings. The place really set a vibe for my time in Ghana. It’s also close to everything and their shuttle van was very convenient.

Nice place to stay. Close to airport, shuttle to airport, easy access to several nice restaurants.

Getting more outdated every year. Not worth the money. You can find better hotels in Accra near the Airport.

I always stay in this hotel. They are helpful especially Miss Gifty and Miss Sarah at reception. They alway give better room each time i come and take care of me.. They have free shuttle from airport. Location is so good, 3 minutes from marina shopping mall. Near airport. This is the best price and quality wise. I suggest to everybody.
