Hyatt Place Grand Rapids South

The location was great.

Upon check-in, we noticed our toilet wasn’t working. I called the front desk multiple times and it took 2 hours before someone even came to our room to tell us it couldn’t be fixed until maintenance got in the next morning. No one offered a backup solution, a room change, or even directions to another restroom. We were left with no working bathroom for the night and no real effort to make the situation right. I’ve tried to contact management three times this week to discuss and have not been contacted (our stay was Saturday and it’s now Thursday). Also, there was an actual plant growing out of the floor next to the register.

We booked last min and was so happy we did!! Great place . Clean and quiet All the amenities that I wanted and easy check in and check out Breakfast was complimentary and really a great surprise

We paid more for this hotel than we usually would since it is one of our favorite brands, but we were disappointed. The TV picture was fuzzy in the first room we were assigned and we could not get YouTube in the second room. Bathroom area with the shower and toilet was very small and you had to stand next to the side of the toilet to open and close the door. The staff was wonderful and even let me borrow a phone charger since I accidentally forgot mine. Breakfast was somewhat disappointing, eggs were the powdered kind and sausage patties were not good. The did have some wonderful blueberries with the breakfast.

Updated, spacious rooms, decent breakfast, nice attentive and welcoming staff who appeared to put customers first.

Air conditioner was very loud in 226. Wish there was a freezer section to the refrigerator.

The air stopped working in the middle of the night. The tub wouldn't drain and they had no maintenance available to make the repairs.

We came to stay here for a funeral and asked to check out an hour late and was told it would be fifty dollars extra and she was not very polite. I have worked night audit and on front desk and all you have to do is just tell the turndown workers to clean the room last to give people a little extra time to get out of a room. To be coming in from out of town and ask for an hour of leeway for a funeral didn't seem like that big of an ask, but apparently it is. So I'm not going to stay at a hyatt again honestly. When Ive asked to do anything regarding a late check out at a home2suites, an embassay terrace, a doubletree, a radisson etc, they always give me til 12 pm before they say they have to charge. We also had to get something out of the car at midnight and were going to ask for a towel and there was no one around, and yes we yelled hello several times. Felt like I was inconveniencing the staff by staying here.
