Futian Shangri-La Shenzhen

Good location Good price Hotel is dated but still okay

Stayed at Futian Shangri-la hotel. Staff was extremely polite and professional. Location extremely good, 5 min from mtr Station. 2 mtr Station to border of hk. Hotel is in centre of CBD shopping is very convenient

Starting from January, I tried another 3 hotels in Shenzhen. The Jen, Nanshan Shangrila, and Four Seasons. Jen is a bit too young for my taste, the surroundings of Nanshan Shangrila is not yet well developed as lots of construction sites around, Four Seasons is good, but their Club lounge refill is very slow both during afternoon tea and evening cocktail. So I decided to go back to Futian Shangrila again.

Excellent

Very well maintained hotel. Rooms aren't huge but they're spacious enough. Haven't used the facilities at all despite having stayed on three separate occasions. The location is excellent. It is right next to Futian High Speed rail station and a short walk (<5 mins) to PAFC and Coco Park. The one thing we didn't like they much was breakfast. It's a typical buffet style breakfast but is expensive and the Chinese offerings ie noodles, congee and dim sum were all quite average. However, Shang Garden is excellent for dim sum (I guess it's a different kitchen). Better than anywhere else we've been in Shenzhen and much cleaner, more comfortable and great service as usual.

As a foreign family we felt discriminated and victimised during our stay here over CNY. Staff were not attentive, the hotel felt like it was at over capacity - the staff were stretched and subsequently the service was terrible. We submitted a written complaint.

The location was the reason why I chose this hotel. It is right next to the railroad station within a couple of minutes walk. The overall feeling of the hotel is ok, nothing to write home about. But the breakfast is so bad it was embarrassing. The selection was not very large but the quality was even worse. Everything I chose was kind of substandard, for example, the things I can put in the noodle was pretty low quality. Other things I tried was not very fresh either. I invited a friend to meet me up for breakfast and it was an embarrassment for me. The in-room dining beef meat ball dish was also quite bad, the meat balls are all very hard, maybe that is they way they are supposed to be in that part of China but I have never had such kind of dish before, so I threw away all the hard meat balls.

Nice location and staff

Very luxury oriental style hotel though facilitates in room can have been modernised a bit.

Staffs at front desk and club lounge that leaded by Edward are extraordinary helpful and friendly. They are attentive to details and efficient. Great stay there. Thanks Edward!
