Hotel Makarios

If you want to relax and be close to Kamari beach,this is the hotel for you,not to mention it is a very clean hotel,friendly staff and very close to great restaurants.It is a couple miles from the airport and while you are sunbathing at the pool you will see planes about to land,fly right over you which I think was so cool! 5 minutes from this hotel was an excellent restaurant named "Lolos"seafood,steaks,great wine,great prices recommended from the daytime recepionist Petros, which I dont think you will find a friendlier,more helpful,professional person in any other hotel,he is a true gentelman and I hope to see him again someday,he even made sure I got my gold bracelet which I forgot in Santorini,via courrier 2 days later!

We arrived at the Makarios having read mixed reviews and a bit unsure but from the moment we arrived until the day we left all worries were swiftly negated. The hotel itself is underestimated in every possible regard. The owner and his staff should be incredibly proud of the level of service we were shown throughout our stay! Including arranging car hire, excursions and lending us a couple of towels free of charge to take on a Caldera cruise when our beach towels were drenched whilst 'drying' on the balcony during a late night storm. Pedros' kind and knowledgeable advice on how to navigate the island and where best to park was priceless. The gardens, pool and all areas of the hotel we checked out were spotlessly clean and every member of staff had a smile. We were allocated a pool & sea view room at the front of the hotel which was comfortable and kept extremely clean (and provided with new bed linen/towels daily) with a lovely little balcony. Obviously we were not expecting the ritz given the price we paid but the food, beer, location and facilities were perfect for us. Don't be expecting chips at every meal, here they provide mostly plentiful portions of traditionally Greek dishes. Some imported beers/spirits are limited on the all-inclusive program so be sure to check the menu before ordering. We'll be back as soon as possible! :)

Arrived and the hotel seemed ok, room was spacious. That night noticed a couple of ants by the balcony door thought nothing of it, next morning woke up to loads of them all over the floor and in the bed, told reception we wanted to move and they said they would just clean it and spray some ant killer, went out for the day and that night came back to the same amount, showed the receptionist the ants and said we wanted to move, he said there was nothing he could do. Got moved the next day. The food was ok, a bit of option but average overall. The pool and jacuzzi were filthy and could have done with a good clean!! The receptionist was helpful with excursion information and tours.

Nice hotel, welcoming was pretty good, the hotel manager is very gentle. You think he is the owner because he is there always ready to assist you The breakfast choice is very limited Finally good value for money recommended

Friendly and helpful staff who provided useful info about the local area and trips. Rooms cleaned daily and towels replaced. Beds were a little uncomfortable. Lovely pool which was larger than expected. 5 mins walk from Kamari beach, restaurants and shops.

Budget hotel with a nice pool. Clean rooms. Hire an ATV and go up to explore Fira and Ia on your own time.

The staff do so much for you and make sure you get the most out of your trip!

Staff was great - location of hotel was out of the way from sights.

The hotel is very close to the beach, with a big beautiful pool and several small jacuzzis. The location is well communicated with a bus stop in front of it. Only that the breakfast is just simple basic things, and the quality is not very satisfying. But all in all, it's a good choice to have stayed in Kamari and in this hostel.

The hotel provided everything we wanted.. relaxing friendly immaculate hotel inside and out. The bedroom was kept pristine each day and the staff were eager and happy to serve. The all-inclusive package meant we didn't need to look anywhere else outside the hotel. Food was varied and appetising . I especially welcomed the fresh salad and accompaniments at each meal. The table tennis was fun after a day at the pool or a trip out.We enjoyed the open air cinema which was a 15 min walk away as were the local shops, bars, restaurants and beach which we really didn't bother about as we had what we needed at the hotel! For a 3* hotel I rated it highly.
