Holiday Inn Express Cardiff Airport by IHG

Excellent location for Cardiff airport. Staff very friendly. Nice large seating area for drinks and dining. Great shuttle service to airport. However our room was dark and small. There was no alarm clock, though we did have a wake up call. The description for this hotel says they have a laundry room available for guests to use - not so. They have only a washing machine, no dryer. Rooms need to be updated.

I really enjoyed my brief stay at the hotel. Staff were so helpful. Didn't get my wake up call but no reason to complain. Again found staff to be really really helpful.

Shockingly shabby hotel, frayed, split carpet, generally worn and shabby interior, poor level of cleanliness, thin duvet, employees seem to be depressed and worn down and the environment must be part of that. Sad, previous stays in a Holiday Inn in other countries were much nicer. Won't use the brand again. Airport shuttle, free WIFI, and fruit at breakfast are the only positives.

I stayed here with my wife and two children. The room had a double bed and a double sofa bed which the children shared. The room was clean and tidy and just what we needed for a weekend visiting Barry, which is a 10 minute drive away. Breakfast was very good, with a good selection of cereals and cooked breakfast. Ashley on reception was very friendly and helpful. We'd stay here again.

Stayed over for 1 night. Firstly the service was brilliant, made us feel welcomed by staff. Explained the times for dinner and breakfast and what is available outside the times. Room was on ground floor as they seen we had a little toddler and was easy to go in and out of hotel not using stairs or lifts. Room was all set-up for us, sofa bed out ready.Really clean and tidy. We went to the beach which was a 5minute drive so was ideal. Even though we was next to airport, you cant hear any flights so your disturbed. Would definitely visit again and recommend this hotel. Ideal for everyone.

Please ensure first if the A/C is working in room before you book a room. I was with my two children and room was sofocated. After complaining few time they managed to moved me into different room, for first few hours room was okay but after that heat was coming from the A/c, luckily I was staying for only one night, I will try not to come this one as I am member of iHg. Toilet was stink like anything, do not know why they let down customer like that. Manager was very helpful though and admitted that there was a issue with the cooling in particular these room, so why they didn’t inform me before hand they just waited so if I complain then will do some action. Please fix the cooling in that hotel or atleast tell the trusty that it’s not working so I can go somewhere else. I had to leave early in the morning and didn’t bother to stay till check out as I was hot. Hope they will do some action.

Hotel was a bit dated. Walking around local area was nice.

Great location near the airport. Clean room and helpful staff. Nice breakfast service, especially the wide range of times available for multiple schedules of different travelers. Would recommend.
