The manager tried to make nice at the end, but, with words only, so what is that worth? The main problem with my stay was Alexandre. A night manager who is so improperly employed in the service industry that I wonder if he is a relative. The hotel is literally empty. They put me (their one customer who booked for multiple nights) next to the washing room. Where the maids get their supplies and they wash all the linen. Much noise? Early in the am? When I asked the dim wit at the desk to move me, she looked like I asked to stop the world from spinning. She calls her overlord and he and I almost come to blows over the issue. I must have stopped him from an important Facebook chat. They finally move me. The room was ok. Bad bath and the shower curtain was too long. The beds took up all the space but the room was new. The outside of the hotel isn't though. The exteriors have years of caked on soot. Those white paint photos are either years old or touched up. when I looked into the bar and café there didn't seem to be anybody on call. They could fix things easily and cheaply and get a good review. But, Alexandre is probably in charge of that and he needs time to send D pics from the company computer.

We arrived on the evening of Thursday 26th, not having booked, and asked if a room was available. The man at Reception could not have been less helpful. He took an age on the computer, and when we asked politely if he thought there might be a room for us, he snapped back very rudely, telling us he was still looking. Then we asked to see the suggested room. Oh dear. He had NEVER been asked this before; we pointed out that this was normal practice. More unpleasantness, and at that point we should have said 'Thank you and goodnight' and left, but we were both tired. We ordered dinner in the restaurant, and our bottle of wine appeared already opened (never had that happen before), so rather suspect a cheaper one had been substituted (and would rather not think what the waiter might have done to it, as the receptionist appeared in the dining room, spoke to our waiter then nodded in our direction). We were sitting next to a family with a rather naughty child who threw his food around (not complaining as we have eight grandchildren and can appreciate how difficult it can be), however at breakfast next morning, this child's discarded food was still beneath their table! Although our bedding and towels were clean, their was a general air of neglect about the whole place. Broken woodwork, damaged ceilings and the photo on their website of the two white ball lights by the swimming pool bears no relation to the filthy broken ones we observed. I am e-mailing Pippins, the parent company, separately.

"Fair pricing / good location close to Chambord"

6.0

Good location close to Chambord. We were welcomed at our arrival. Restaurant were closed (Saturday at 8pm in October). Room were fine for a family of four. Bed sheets and towel were of basic quality or aged. Breakfast is free for kids below 12. It costs EUR 12 for adults and is way too expressive for the quality. Looks that pastries and scrambled eggs were industrially made. Scrambled were really terrible. The picture on the website representing the hotel and swimming pool is more a piece of art than reality. All in all, it is a good location to stop for one night on the way to a visit to the caste of Chambord. We paid EUR 62 for a night for two adults and 2 kids. Which is a fair price.

"Great for cyclists but DONT go to this hotel by the Loire à vélo path!!!!"

8.0

Pleasant and clean, huge pluses for cyclists are the full-size bath - my muscles were so thankful - and very secure bike storage, actually inside the hotel, not just in a parking lot. Swimming pool also a plus. Restaurant a little overpriced and note to manager, please hire more wait staff for the evening, the poor girl was almost literally running around to serve us all. Important if you do stay there, I strongly recommend heading northeast out of Blois taking the fairly flat Route Nationale, same one taken by the buses. About 10-15 minutes out of downtown Blois. The Loire à vélo path meanders along pleasantly and the turnoff for the hotel is well-marked. However to get to the hotel you have to go up the two steepest hills I encountered on the whole trip, a good 300 metres, Exhausting after an already long, toilsome day.

"Out of town hotel in Blois"

4.0

If you are planning to stay or stop over at the Villa Bellagio I wouldn't recommend it. We arrived just before the check in time at 2pm to be told that the kitchen was now closed despite the hotel information saying 2.30 - not something you want to hear after a 5 hour journey with children! The photos show a nice hotel with a pool and various facilities for children however the reality was very dissapointing as the hotel is rather tired, not particularly clean and seemed to have few staff. Breakfast was sadly chaotic as there seemed to be one member of staff so they kept running out of things. I guess the lesson to learn is pictures don't always tell the whole story!

Great region to visit sites. The hotel was basic. Breakfast was expensive. Nearby bakery way more economical (Feuliette Bakery). Staff were helpful.

"Adequate"

8.0

For an overnight stay the hotel was acceptable with good room facilities. However breakfast was another story. Half the tables still had previous occupants crockery as had not been cleared up. The other half were occupied. I asked one of the staff to clean a table for us which he did but then gave our table to another group despite me standing there. When he did lay another table there was no cutlery so I helped myself at the staff cupboard. At this point others did the same as service was very slow. Adequate choice for breakfast however and slow to replenish fruit juice. Not a good way to end a good stay
