Small room but good. Lovely staff

Old old building but the room was very well designed to adapt to modern needs. Good shower/bathroom. Great bed. Lovely location on the Cathedral green. Loved it.

All is good as long as you don't expect yo get a room with the view of the Cathedral. Yes, the stairs are rickety, but it's an old building. Breakfast was nice and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Would I stay there again? Most definitely, Yes.

We are giving this hotel a poor review due to the fact that the day before arrival we were contacted and told that there would be no breakfast or dinner served during our stay! When we checked in we were given a key and had to find our own way to the room we had been given. One member of staff was standing outside smoking and made a very poor attempt to offer to help with our luggage. The room was clean and we had a great view of the cathedral but be warned the bells chime every quarter of an hour so we did not have a hood nights sleep. When we checked out there was no member of staff there to take payment, we rang the mobile number on the door of the hotel but there was no answer, we sent a text message to the same number to sort out payment but have so far heard nothing. There were other guests staying at the same time who also thought it bizarre that there was no member of staff availabl.

A lovely hotel with an amazing view of the cathedral from the top room (if you can cope with the spiral staircase!) A room with character and very clean. The bathroom is in an adjoining room. Only complaint is that we had to let ourselves in to the hotel and saw no-one (apart from the cook) until we were leaving. We had been promised a free breakfast each morning as part of the booking but the cook knew nothing about it, so we had to buy a breakfast elsewhere. We were happy to have the hotel to ourselves but I think others may have been disturbed. Obviously this was a result of Covid 19 but it would have been nice to know. Otherwise I would recommend the hotel for its comfort, cleanliness and character.

Great location. Lots of old features. Hotel could do with updating. On arrival told the four poster bedroom we'd booked was being refurbished "let's go and see what it looks like". It was almost finished but no heating connected in the bathroom (February booking). Shown 2nd room (no heating apart from old dented convector heater plugged in). Choice of two other rooms which at least were warm. Not great facilities, had to crawl under desk to unplug light to plug in phone charger. Good breakfast.

We ended up noy staying there. Just walking up the rickety staircase covered in yellow plastic sheeting to the tiny, overheated room was surreal...The atmoshere in this place: funereal. Not what one would expect, especially at that tariff which we were forced to pay when the young porter and the chamber maid eventually got hold of the owner on the phone. I am gravely disappointed and also angry to have had to pay the full price of £ 112.00 for this failed booking.

We thoroughly enjoyed our break at the hotel, staff friendly and efficient.
