Castle Park Hotel

I was not impressed by this hotel and I would not recommend it to anyone.

Hotel reception was welcoming as was the receptionist. Our room was clean and nicely decorated, although very hot. A fan was provided which was thoughtful. There was outside noise from a local pub around midnight, but if we had closed the windows we probably wouldn't have noticed. It is a city centre location so some outside noise is to be expected. There is no parking but there is a nearby multi-storey which was reasonably priced. There was a good choice of food for the continental breakfast. A couple of niggles in that the lock on the room door was a bit dodgy and it was a bit of a hike from the breakfast room in the basement to our room on the second floor. It was very good money for the price we paid.

We stayed here for our anniversary, we paid extra for a King size bed as a treat and got two single bed (in terrible condition, with the springs poking through) pushed together so we spent the entire night on opposite sides as not to fall down the gap. The shower went from scolding to freezing cold with no in between.

I stayed in Castle Park Hotel as I had an interview for DMU and it is the best located, reasonably priced hotel in the area it's so close to town and DMU that it was literally a minute or two walk. I stayed with a friend and we had an amazing time, I would definitely stay there again :)

Rooms had an awful smell - there were plug in air fresheners and diffusers around the room, but this did little to mask the stench!! Incredibly noisy which meant I hardly slept! I wasn't expecting a Monday night to be as bad as it was! Groups walking passed the window, cars continually driving by with blasting music etc. etc.! Reception didn't open until 10am, which meant my payment was took off the card which I left as a booking deposit - I actually wanted to pay on another card!! Bathroom miniscule as well............you couldn't pay me to stay here again!
