"Charming Hotel"

10.0

I stayed here for 1 night in June 2021 with my partner. This charming hotel was well located and had plentiful free parking. Some fixtures and fittings are perhaps a little dated but nothing that caused any issues, the room was a good size, the bed large and comfortable, breakfast very nice and staff friendly with excellent service. The delightful garden/grounds were an added bonus and despite being right next to a main road, the only sounds I heard at night were the babbling of the nearby stream. I only stayed at St Benets as it was the cheapest option for the dates I needed but I would be more than happy to stay here again.

Spacious room with 4 poster bed and period furniture. The owner Jenny is hospitable and kind. The breakfast is delicious. The stay exceeded my expectations and is very good value. There is a pub nearby Llanivet Inn. However, it was busy that night so we went to the fish and chips restaurant across the road from the pub which is great.

A 15th century building, presumably listed, so don't expect IKEA furniture or uncreaky floorboards. Unfortunately the Abbey part itself is undergoing maintenance so couldn't see it up close! 6 bedrooms, we had room 6 which looked directly at the Abbey. Beautiful grounds, woods all around. The staff were very friendly and the breakfast was fantastic, you have to order it the night before. The village of Lanivet is literally 3 minutes walk away with a lovely pub that serves food, opposite is a very popular fish and chip shop and next to the pub is a well stocked shop. The only downsides I found with the Abbey were that the rooms are on the first floor with no lift but easily manageable stairs, our wooden bed had drawers underneath with wooden knobs that I walked into with my ankle twice, my fault, and although it has a separate single room adjoining, it only has a shower and we would have enjoyed a bath, but we should have asked when booking! All in all a thoroughly enjoyable experience!

After a very long and tiresome journey due to traffic on the M5 we arrived at 10pm where we greeted by the fantastic Jenny - she couldn’t have done more to make us feel welcome and ensured we had everything we needed. Breakfast was nice and served promptly, my girlfriend ordered off menu and this was catered for nicely. Thoroughly recommend and wouldn’t hesitate to stay again.

"Historic building with lovely hosts."

10.0

We spent 4 nights in this historic building, our hosts Jenny & Ric could not have been more welcoming. Breakfast was excellent, location is very handy for Bodmin. The Lanivet Inn just up the road was ideal for an evening meal. Would recommend this hotel, especially if you like historic buildings.

St Benets Abbey is in a lovely location. Despite the main road, this was overshadowed by the sound of the stream. It's a lovely building with a amazing feel about it
