The Royal Hotel

Really disappointed! A group of friends who decided to meet for our regular catch us as it was mid way. The place looked lovely however we were so disappointed by the bar and staff. Ordered some white wine to be given it in hot glasses, I get wine glasses have to be washed but we don’t expect my white wine to be warmed by the glass.were paying our money for a product and experience. I asked the bar man if we could possibly have some more glasses as these were warm. His response was a huff and ‘the wine glasses are all warm as there just out the wash’ not only was it annoying to get a warm glass with my drink but the attitude of the bar man was what really turned our drinks sour. It doesn’t take much to run a glass under cold water. We had one drink and left and went to the station at carnforth which was amazing. Staff our wonderful. I think it’s more a lack of management, customer care and training than being a bad place.

I regularly eat and drink at the Royal due to the proximity and Most of the time the food is great and the atmosphere. However, a couple of times of late there has been behaviour I would expect in a cheap meal-deal bargain pub. Loud swearing , kids playing devices loudly etc. Tonight there was a family at a table with children blasting out an electronic device at the volume that could be heard clearly from the other side of the room. We asked to move tables, with the reason being very obvious but this was not addressed. It should not be down to customers to confront noisy patrons or move due to antisocial behaviour. The staff are always great with customer service but they should to be trained and instructed to manage this. I hope this is addressed so that the Royal will remain an enjoyable place to relax and dine.

Nice, clean place. Convivial atmosphere. Helpful, attentive staff. Nice pint. Sunday dinner was nice too. Only fault with the dinner was the size. Only two roast potatoes. That's my opinion though. I'd definitely go there again.

Very friendly and inviting place was there on a Saturday night so was very busy and had a great atmosphere.

Rooms are good, food is excellent
