Westgate Winchester

The location was perfect for what we needed (city centre). But, this meant city noise which kept wife up during night. Bed creaked with every move, which bothered wife. Personally, I loved it. Genuine place, comfortable enough.

The Westgate is in an excellent location and the staff member at check in was very friendly and efficient, so . The room was large and but the bathroom tiny.

Incredible location, incredible room with an excellent bed. Staff extremely helpful! Excellent value for money! No one site parking but situated to a very cheap over night car park. Wonderful and would definitely visit again!

Cracking location, beautiful old pub and good value too

Convenient location fir visiting Winchester on foot, comfortable room, clean, quiet at night, lots of shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs nearby

The staff were lovely and great. The room was also lovely and clean with comfy bed and amenities. The place is old so if you wake easily take ear plugs as everything creaks loudly and not everyone remembers fire doors slam. The only thing it lacked for us was hangers to put our clothes on. We parked in tower street car park with is very close and cheap. Only £2 on a sunday. You can also pay via an app (just park)so you do not have to keep gojng back to your car.

Bed clean and comfortable. Towels lovely. Only a fan in room which was noisy overnite. Shower cubicle small. Old narrow stairs, not easy with larger luggage, especially climbing 2 fights. Furnishings tired. Didnt figure on so much traffic noise overnite, so poor sleep. Staff pleasant.

Attractive pub-hotel in central location. Very friendly staff at check-in. Rooms are basic, but the rate is reasonable. However the bathroom was in a state when we arrived.The inside of the toilet had not been cleaned at all from the last guests, which was disgusting. There were hairs of all kinds on the floor and walls. Black mould all around the shower, the grouting just needs ripping out. Weird as they actually left nice toiletries and the bed had fresh sheets, so clearly someone had been in there to clean. Only other very minor complaints were the extremely steep and long climb to our top floor room (not great if like us, one of you has a bad hip, but this might not bother everyone). There was also an issue with being led to think that breakfast was included, but they actually do not currently provide breakfast. I would provide more details but it involves a partner site and my last review was rejected by this website - I can only hope that this mention of a partner site was the issue. Overall this could have been well recommended for the price & location, despite being quite basic, but they need to get their cleaning sorted completely out first.

Superbly positioned especially from the railway station, the narrow and crooked stairs add to it's charactor. Staff always on hand to make you welcome and cater for any needs
