Oakwood Residence Hangzhou

Building is dated. The heating in my room had not been used for some time. It took quite a few hours for it to warm up which made the experience uncomfortable.

A very good stay. But the clerks tried to take too much from credit card for incidentals: $800 American dollars. I discussed with management and they lowered it to $300. This was my third visit to Oakwood and no need to take so much from card as I always pay cash for incidentals. It was resolved satisfactorily. Great location.

I have an Google Pixel phone and the WiFi doesn't work, the hotel tech came and said their WiFi is not compatible because my phone runs on Android 7.1, so I ended up using my phone data plan and ran up huge usage fees.

This good hotel with spacious room and clean toilet was let down by poor staff service :- a) a staff that woke me up at 2 25 am in the morning and insisted that I asked for room delivery of 2 bottles of mineral water. After I told her she was wrong, she offered no apology. b) During the first evening when we wanted to get a cab for dinner outside, we were told it was next to impossible to get one unless we had a local taxi hailing apps. We were left on our own to figure out how to get one. After more than an hour of trying at nearby main road, we managed to get one. Let just say we expected more from the hotel staff.

We only stayed for 2 nights. There are many things in the hotel we hadn't had a chance to explore. Overall, our stay was good but not perfect. The good: Staff was efficient. The room is huge for a studio. It is very clean. The breakfast buffet is fantastic. The okay: The furniture in our room is a bit too old especially the couch. The TV remote was sticky, it bothered me.

I stayed in Oakwood with my husband for 3 nights. The hotel location is good. It took 10-15 mins drive to West Lake. You may easily find some restaurants and convenient store nearby. We booked a Executive Studio. The room is quite big. Also has a small kitchen which you may cook/heat the food. Washing machine is in the washroom and you may use. This hotel also offers different types of pillow. Just give a call and they will send you. Just had a small issue when check out. I used my credit card to pay the security deposit. The hotel was not able to cancel it. It took 15 mins to fix and finally they ask if I can pay $0.01 to against the security deposit. And also they are not able to provide any invoice as I paid in full when I reserved online. I hope there would not be and surprised fees charged by them.

We booked a two-bedroom apartment for a family of four people and had a great stay there. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The neighborhood is very convenient with many choices of restaurant in the mall just next to the hotel. Will need to take a taxi to the west lake but it's a short ride. Buses are convenient as well just outside the hotel. Good service from the staff as well. Will definitely stay there again next trip!

I booked the Deluxe Studio non smoking room. When i checked in, they brought me to the EAC apartment opposite the Oakwood (see picture), saying that they were fully booked in the main Oakwood building (which is newer than EAC). The hotel staff also claimed that Swimming pool/gym is at the EAC , so that it's more convenient. But upon entering the room, i was shocked by the strong stench of smoking. I told them to change immediately, and they then move me to the Oakwood, saying it's an upgrade. The new room in the Oakwood Residence is bit better, looks clean, with full kitchen... though still some bit of smell. I am not convinced it's an upgrade. They were not ethical as I booked and paid the Oakwood price, but they first place me at EAC, a cheaper apartment (see the picture and you can find the price of EAC). By evening, i was noticing flies in the bedroom, and overnight, i was badly bitten and itching through my sleep overnight, probably a combination of the flies and bed bugs in the beddings. I checked out immediately next day, they refused to refund me the 2nd night, saying that it's because i have paid. So the lesson is DO NOT PaY in advance. Hotels.com also said it's not possible to refund too, i think this is not right, but ok, this is the reputation. I hope other guests learn to be smarter... Best is to avoid this apartment hotel.
