"Great stay"

10.0

We spent one night there and found it to be an excellent choice. Brilliant location and some lovely walks nearby. Very friendly welcome and all the staff were very polite and helpful. We had our evening meal there and was very pleased with the food. We had the veggie breakfast the next morning and that was great. Although there was live music in the bar we could not hear it in our room. very comfortable room and well equipped. Water pressure in shower was not so good but adequate all the same. Would definitely stay there again

"A little extra"

8.0

A cheap B&B with a little extra, basic room, but clean and quiet. The breakfast is good with plenty of choice, including full English, eggs benedict and smoked salmon with excellent service. Do yourself a favour if you stay here and have your evening meal in the restaurant.

"Weekend stay "

6.0

Very friendly, very dated but clean, the Northumbrian breakfast needs to be looked at, it was like an over grilled mess, when you think you have one of the best butchers in the North East as a neighbour. for a one night stay to visit the area it is ideal.

"A pleasant stay in a lovely town."

10.0

A really friendly hotel/pub. Nicely positioned in the middle of Rothbury and in the centre of all the places we wished to explore in Northumberland. Wholesome, varied and freshly cooked breakfasts set us up for a day of sightseeing. We stayed for three nights. Our one evening meal in the hotel's dining area was excellent quality. Booking would be recommended as it was fully booked for the following nights of our stay (Italian and Indian choices over the road and in nearby pubs). The attic room (20) was adequately furnished with comfy beds and a choice of top sheet and quilt for warm nights. The enormous bathroom - spread out around the roofline - had a good tier of shelves to pop all our lotions and potions. Yes, there were several flights of stairs but no more than expected for a three/four storey country establishment with centuries of history. The top floor rooms had access to a fire door which was comforting (and not required!) All in all a lovely place, with welcoming hosts/staff and atmosphere. We would certainly book again if in the same area in the future.

"Typical pub hotel"

8.0

Room a good size and bathroom actually had a bath, great after a long day walking. This is not a fancy, modern boutique hotel with fluffy towels, but the bed was comfortable and the mattress new, the bathroom renovated in the last few years (not in the 50’s), the room very clean. Only complaint was the wifi was unreliable in the room and the music at breakfast was intrusive.
