Birch Hotel

Bar closed at 8.30pm, asked to vacate lounge area 9pm. The room was very small, generally hotel needs freshened up.

Noise of traffic during the night The light in the terrace which my room overlooked was on all night The room service was not the best repressing the complimentary stuff . Had to ask reception.

Well the bar shut at odd times and food was served between 18.30 and 19.30 then closed

Convenient location and plenty of parking. Also very good value

Hotel a little tired and breakfast disappointing because there was no fresh fruit or yoghurt and only a choice of two cereals. The menu states a selection of fruit and yoghurts.

The main hotel looked nice and modern

The extension is very dated and the rooms are in a poor state

The only thing I liked was the breakfast. The rooms really let this hotel down.

The rooms need a lot of attention. The mattresses are so thin you hit the board underneath when you sit on the bed. (The bedding was very clean but that was the only good thing about it). The kettle needs replacing, I made a cup of tea and it was awful, it was that bad we had to wait for the restaurant to open to get a decent hot drink.. I know the water is soft in the North so I could only think that it was the kettle!
