Hotel Restaurant Balm Meggen

Although located outside the city center, this is one of the best places to stay in Lucern. The fact that it is not right in the city is actually a plus rather than a minus because the area around the hotel is very quiet calm. The hotel is very clean, the staff is super friendly and getting there is really easy: about 15 min by bus #24 from the central train station. Some of the rooms have beautiful views of the lake and from the dining terrace on a clear day you can see the Berner Oberland peaks. Really nice place to stay!

Easy transport to Lucerne- busstop in front of hotel. No elevators. No tea facilities in room. Good breakfast on terrace, good views from here.

Nice staff, close to beach and very comfortable. The breakfast was among the best of my 10-day trip. I also like the lay-out of the room. I definitely will recommend my friend to stay here whin in Luzern!

Our time spent at Hotel Balm was very pleasant. The room was very comfortable and clean. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was included and was good. A couple of things that can be added to the room is a small refrigerator and arrangement for a kettle for tea and coffee. Food in Switzerkand is very expensive so a refrigerator would really help.

The location of the hotel is quite good with the bus right in front of the hotel you can pretty much go to everywhere in Luzern. No elevator, if you have a lot of luggage, the staff (most of the time is a lady) will help you. The view from the restaurant is spectacular, every morning we enjoyed breakfast there with breathtaking mountain view. We also saw rainbow when we had dinner there (please expect paying the dinner more than $350 for two adults and two kids... it was a SURPRISE for us! Don't get me wrong, the food was very nice) The room is quite late 90's feeling with decent size of bathroom. Furniture can be dated (both chairs in our room were unstable). NO AC! And no bug screen over the windows...... We arrived Luzern in a somewhat 90F day, after checking-in we went out without shutting the curtains so when we got back late in the afternoon, the room was hot... we opened windows to cool down the room. Then there were a group of mosquito from the garden entered the room and both of my kids got bit badly, we had a almost sleepless night because of that. Hopefully, they will consider putting bug screen onto all the windows. It is an easy and cheap way compare to having AC installed in every room.

Staff was welcoming and accommodating. Breakfasts were a nice bonus. Mini horses next door thrilled kids to no end.

We had a lovely stay at the Hotel Balm. The staff was genuinely courteous and so helpful. Perfect location for trip into Lucerne via the bus.

Great stay right outside the center of Luzern. We were looking for a hotel with parking but there are not many options in the city center and those that do offer parking are very expensive. This location was great for us as we had a car and we would drive in to the city, paying for parking only for a few hours. The hotel offers free parking so this worked out perfect for us. We had a family suite with beds for 4 people. Lots of space with lots of light due to the many windows facing the front of the hotel. Breakfast was very good and the outdoor terrace offered beautiful views of the mountains. All staff was very nice to us. The only complaint is the bathroom door in the room. This is a opaque glass sliding door, which does not completely shut and offers no privacy whatsoever. There were 4 of us inside the room and this lack of privacy made us all quite uncomfortable. I don`t understand why they chose to install these type of doors!!! Besides the issue with the bathroom door, this is a very nice hotel, conveniently located for visiting the Luzern area, if you have a car.

Started out as a bad experience. Booked this hotel because of the reviews and it being a non-smoking hotel. But the room given to us was reeking of cigarette smoke. But we called the reception to change rooms and they were happy to give us a different room. Rooms are clean and beds were very comfortable. Good view of the lake from the room's balcony. But furniture and decor is old and outdated. Would not recommend this hotel to anyone else. Breakfast was decent.

A very pleasant and well presented hotel, but it should be noted that there is no lift. The food was the best we had during our 10 days in Switzerland, and was charged for accordingly. We were a bit surprised to be charged for a jug of tap water in the evening. But a good choice if you don't want to stay in Lucerne, where there appear to be few hotels with on site parking.
