Hotel Alpenroyal

The view from this property is amazing! The staff were all wonderful. It feels like a family is running the hotel. Such warmth and care from everyone. They look like such a great team. ABOVE AND BEYOND: Our family was at the train station and we realized we forgot one of our bags. Our train was due to leave in 8 minutes. We called the Hotel and the amazing driver brought us our bag immediately with one minute to spare before our train left. Needless to say it was top notch service. We could've missed our train and have had to wait another 30 minutes for the next one. Thanks to this team!

We spent 3 nights here and loved it. Hotel location is amazing, staff were professional, very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was excellent with very good choices. I would highly recommend this Hotel.

We truly enjoyed our stay from check-in to check-out. The front desk staff were super friendly and helpful. The room, although dated, was clean and had a nice balcony. Coffee and tea were provided and could be replaced for 1chf. The hotel is located up a hill but only 12-15 minutes walk from the main train station. The main heart of town, as well as main attractions, were just a short walk away. On a clear day there is a view of the Matterhorn directly from the hotel. Breakfast was included and although mostly continental there was plenty to choose from, including a nice cheese selection and a coffee machine. The shower head was hung very low on the wall which could be an issue for some. As noted above, the rooms are dated so know what to expect. I’d still say it’s a good value for money and we would return.

We stayed there and rented the deluxe bedroom, with a balcony that has a view straight on the very impressive Matterhorn. You can actually see it from your bed! The room was cosy, the hotel is nicely decorated. We enjoyed the pool that gives also on the Matterhorn. Located about 5 mn up high from the village but I personally didn’t mind the little walk as the view along the way is really spectacular otherwise they give you a pass to a lift and a tunnel that brings you to the center of the village.

Pretty and clean hotel with nice views. Unbelievable breakfast! Very good. The restaurant staff was nice and polite, the reseption was not. We were given the only room without a view, even though there must’ve been other ones available too. The lift to town is only open from 08-17... when nobody really needs it. And the sauna and spa is open until 19. That was challenging when going skiing. Nice hotel, but not for you if you are about to go skiing.

This is one of the best value for money hotels we stayed at in Switzerland. It's not right in the center of Zermatt, which is a big plus in our mind, but there's an elevator that takes you down to the center within seconds. It has breathtaking views of the Matterhorn and is very peaceful and quiet. We got a really spacious and clean room and the breakfast was nice. The spa was great, with a jacuzzi, heated pool and hot and wet sauna. Best part about this hotel - the amazing staff! They helped us with everything we needed, including restaurant recommendations and hiking trails tips. They even booked us an electric cab to go to the station early and packed us sandwiches for the road! Absolutely wonderful!

We stay on the room with view of Cervin, marvelous, large room with sofa and great terrace, 10 minutes walk to center or 5 trough elevator and small tunnel of next door hotel. Breakfast is good with name on the table. Indoor pool also with view on Cervin. Hotel open on 1985 but still on good condition.

Myself & my husband recently stayed at the Hotel Alpenroyal and how lucky were we to find this gem of a hotel !! There are so many hotels to chose from and while trying to chose we kept coming back to this one !! Family Run Chalet Hotel, Views of the Matterhorn, Pool & Jacuzzi & Breakfast included - ✅ The views from our room were just amazing, we chose the Deluxe Double with Matterhorn View and it was so so worth it !! A dip in the pool & jacuzzi was very welcome each day after our hikes & the loungers had the most magnificent views also. The cosy bar area & outside patio are also wonderful places to sit & relax while looking at the views of the mountain or town below. Breakfast was great every morning with plenty to chose from to send you out happy for your days sightseeing, hiking, skiing or whatever !! The staff at the Alpenroyal are also what makes this hotel special ... all very attentive, friendly & helpful. A special mention to Monika who was so informative about Zermatt, what to see and do & just very friendly & helpful in general. We loved it so much here, we booked an extra night !! We will definitely return ... soon 🤗

Excellent location. Private elevator to street level. Generous breakfast. Very attentive staff. Migel is very special. Great place for skiers. Will definitely go back. Very reasonable cost for Zurich.

Apart from the restaurant closure for dinner this family run hotel was perfect. We had the responsibility of finding a hotel that catered for a group of 10 people (3-70 in age). The hotel and their team were fabulous. The swimming pool was a welcome source of fun for the children as well as a relax for the parents. Position was good aided by the lift that had us in the centre, into the Lift system or apres ski within minutes. We will certainly return.
