Neighborhood, at night the homeless get together to change stuff in the street near the hotel, even with policemen around. San Francisco is passing by a serious problems with drugs users

The Aida Plaza is an Old-Style Traditional Hotel in the heart of Downtown San Francisco. That Area of Market has become increasingly scuzzy over recent years, and I know that many people are put off by the numbers of homeless people near to the entrance (although none came near to the actual hotel entrance during my week there). Once you put that out of your mind, the Aida is a good basic option for the city - and very good for the price that I paid! The room was large, very clean, and the bathroom, lights, tv etc all worked perfectly. The room that I was in (505) was quiet and I got good night's sleep. The internet was easy to connect to and fast. The staff were friendly, and quickly got to know my room number (you hand your key to them when exiting the hotel). They must have a hard job as they have to open the front door for each guest entering (the front door is kept locked). I had no difficulty gaining entry to the Hotel no matter what time I arrived back after a day/night out. Bad points - no tea/coffee facilities in the rooms, which would be a plus, or room service, but I wasn't expecting this. I also liked the "faded glory" and overall feel of the communal areas. The lift/elevator also worked throughout my stay. Overall, i was pleasantly surprised.

The hotel is very nice. Front desk is friendly and room is nice. My only complaint is more about outside. Market street is super loud at night so it’s hard to sleep. Parking is also kinda hard so be prepared to move your car or possibly park in a garage.

Proximity to public transport

The door might be "open" 24/7 but the door stays closed until someone comes to open the door to you. Which is annoying when there's no one at the reception and you have to wait outside.... There is no AC. No fridge. No safe. Very little to no space made to put your stuff in the bathroom. Also all the photos advertised are from at least 20 years ago and it doesn't look like this anymore at all. And the location is very insecure and noisy and since the windows are very very very old, you can hear everything.

I contracted Covid 19 3 days before arrival. I told the facility and was told there would be no refund of my$450.00! I guess the hotel preferred I should have just gone and infected the other guests.

Price, location, friendly people, elevator worked good, and it was very clean, vintage decor. Nice pillows. Flat TV. Good shower temp. Very quite. Public covered parking 1/2 block away.

Shower very tiny with hard plastic curtain that let water out. Bed not comfortable and noisy. No AC on top floor got hot, had to open window, mosquitoes got in and bit hard. Sink had 2 separate faucets so water is either very hot or cold and you gotta keep holding it down to get water: you need to use both hands. Each room has actual key you have to leave at the front desk each time you go out then you have to wait for them to let you back in the front door, which sometimes can take a while.

Area is little off the downtown towards more homeless. The place is an old and rundown place. Ensure you ask for a room with bathroom, few rooms are with shared bathrooms. Step outside of the hotel, ensure you are not flasy, lots of homeless people living around the area.

Location was awesome, 2 minute from BART, bus, tram. Everything is right in front of the hotel. The staff was nice. Overall it was a comfortable stay.

The hotel is a bit outdated, they can do some small changes to get a nicer feel (like changing those bed covers). The overall area while being central is not the best but being close proximity to Moscone Center was a positive for me.
