The Speech House Hotel

Choose the four poster suite and you have a room that you will remember forever..Eat in the verderers restaurant and it's another unforgettable experience.The room had not changed since my last visit 75 years ago.This is a place in the middle of the forest that you never forget

The great strength of this hotel is the splendid building in which it's accommodated. As you drive up the hill from Cannop Ponds, there it is - a great brown stone pile rising up on your right at the cross roads. We stayed for one night, just for the experience of it, and we enjoyed our visit. The two meals we took in the Verderers' Court Room, which serves as the dining room, were both excellent - dinner was a leisurely affair, and everything was well prepared, while at breakfast there was an excellent choice (cooked or whatever). The staff were all very friendly and helpful. My main criticism is that the decor of the hotel is now looking a bit tired, and needs refreshing. There were small things that needed to be watched. For example, there was no box of tissues in our room, not was there a refrigerator, and not even a complimentary bottle of water. All these things were available in the guest house in Herefordshire where we had spent the previous night.

Very friendly helpful staff. Good location for walking etc. Hotel needs updating and re furbishing.

This is a beautiful hotel in the hart of dean forest We was part of a large group and there was ample parking Good food And a big thanks to the staff for accommodating are easy start

Small room, small shower for shower head. Bed small and uncomfortable.

I stayed with my walking group (14 people) for 4 nights. Everyone was pleased with the accommodation and meals. All the staff were friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. After dinner we had use of a large room where the group could sit together with their drinks. Definitely will stay here again if in the area

Great time

We booked for our Ruby Wedding Anniversary - the meal was excellent, the rooms were clean and comfortable and the staff were cheerful, helpful and friendly. I cannot recommend Speech House highly enough.

Adrian and George were fantastic, went above and beyond to help us. However we were charged full price for 4 finger sandwiches for my baby, if I’d known 4 little sandwiches were going to cost £7.50 I would have just given him a bit of my sandwich, bit disappointed in that
