Thapae Happy House

The location of this hotel is great. It's very close to a ton of places to eat and drink but far enough away to be quiet. The rooms are really well designed in a classic way, but with a little modern touch. The only drawback is that there is no elevator to this place so it's not recommended for the handicapped.

Great breakfast and court yard area. We were on 4th floor which was a hike! If booking here, reserve a room on second floor. The queen size bed was comfortable, but the twin size was hard as a rock. We still slept comfortably due to exhaustion at the end of long days. Money exchange, restaurants, street food, massage venues within very short walking distance.

Thapae Happy House is certainly a gem, a great selection right in the middle of the Old City of the Thapae Gate. Living up to its name, we had a wonderful and happy stay here. The staffs were so accommodative that they were ready to pre-pack our early breakfast as we left very early for Doi Suthep on one of the mornings. Breakfast was simple was delicious; each plates are home-made using the freshest ingredients from the kitchen. Room was clean and kept very tidy; so was the bathroom and toilet. No elevator but it is a great reason for a short workout after indulging in awesome Thai local delicacies throughout the day. The only thing that could be improved was the Wi-Fi. We stayed on the 4th floor and were not able to use them. Not a big issue though, as this trip is supposed to get us to disconnect from the virtual world.

Thapae Happy House is great. Not too expensive, ideally located 1 block away from Thapae Gate (which leads into the downtown/historic district), clean, and comfortable. Also walking distance from the Night Bazaar. They also provide free breakfast every morning. Highly recommend staying here.

Spacey bathroom. Delicious breakfast but a few kinds of. The staff are very kind for our little girl. There are a bookstore, a Boots branch, and an Italian food restaurant.

Check-in is easy (tap card to unlock the door). Room was a little dirty when I checked in (hair on floor in bathroom and toilet wasn't clean). Bed was comfortable. Location is close to lots of Old City things. Breakfast was not good. Water bottles are provided in the fridge. Room has a beanbag, if you're into that sort of thing.

nice and frendly staff, quiet place, near phase gate. There is no lift, but the staff helped us to carry the luggages. The staff are very helpful. I lost the phone and the staff helped to contact to find it back. Nice trip.

My boyfriend and I are currently staying at the Thapae Happy House, originally we were only supposed to be staying 3 nights but extended by a further 4. Firstly the staff here really are lovely, so polite & accommodating. The hotel has a real boutique feel, so much attention to detail in the bedroom & bathrooms. Vanity packs including shampoo, tooth brush & body wash in the bathroom & bedroom decorated with greys & white in color. Very comfy bed, lovely little shower & the room is cleaned daily should you wish (just be sure to hang your sign outside the door) Breakfast included and absolutely yummy. 5 choices to choose from, eggs cooked to perfection. The breakfast staff are so polite, the reception staff are so polite and accommodating too. 2 free bottles of water every day too which is a nice touch. We even had our laundry done (5kgs worth for 150baht!!) whilst we were here, just dropped it off to reception in evening and we it collected from the reception the following evening. Ironed & separated in to lights and dark! Very pleased :-) one last point, the hotels location is superb. 1 minute walk from Thapae Gate! We happily walked around at night and felt perfectly safe! Chiang Mai is a very special city!! Overall we loved this hidden gem - thank you to the staff for our unintended week long stay, we loved it!!

My husband and I stayed here while in Chiang Mai. It is a great location, we were able to walk to all the beautiful temples and the Sunday night market. There are also great restaurants, coffee shops and small shops within walking distance. There is an ATM and currency exchange right down the street and also a store to buy toiletries, first aid and other helpful items. The staff was very friendly and helpful when needing directions or recommendations for restaurants or things to do. There is McDonalds right down the street which is the only thing that is open if you have an early flight. The room itself was comfortable and we had no complaints while we stayed there. We would definitely stay here again if we are ever in Chiang Mai.

The location is superb, breakfast is delicious with several choices and the staff are accommodating. The room is nicely decorated although getting to the rooms upstairs require the guests to walk up the flight of stairs. No lift for this cute hotel. Worth the stay as it is a walking distance from the famous Thapae Gate (where the Sunday Market is). We walked all the way to the famous Warorot Market. Overall, this hotel is recommendable, as it is also affordable.
