Regent House Hotel

Had some problem accessing the building per staff email instruction and there was no one to help.

Clean, safe, convenient and walkable to shopping, train station and tourist attraction.

We were not delighted with our stay. They advertised luggage storage, but we were told we could leave our luggage in the main hallway, unsupervised. There was black mold on the caulking in the shower, and there was no water pressure in our bottom floor unit.

The room was large, the location was great!

The property itself was awesome. Clean. I just didn’t realize when I booked it that there was no staff on site most of the time. That was unexpected but they made the process easier than I had anticipated.

Rising damp in the closet ruined my daughter’s dress and my hand luggage with gifts stored in there. The sink was cracked and gross, we prayed that the rickety staircase leading up to the room would not collapse. Unsafe, unclean and worst place I have ever stayed. There is no lift, so trying to get suitcases up the stairs were an effort. Could only get one key, even though there were four of us staying in the room. Never again, expected much more for we were paid for - very overpriced. Avoid and try somewhere else.

Walking up that many flights of stairs with so much luggage was horrible. Had no idea there wouldn't be an elevator. The fact that 3 of us were in room and only one key msde it very hard. I think 2nd key would have been appreciate.

We were pleasantly surprised by the private suite with an en-suite which we were not expecting. The self-serve door and key system was ok but a bit finnicky. Other than the room being cold and the shower being a bit weird, no complaints!

Check In was helped by the presence of a staff member. This was fortunate as the coded key release system seemed to be playing up. We were in the basement room which was fine but the stairs were a little tricky with cases. The location is really good. 5 minutes walk from the Playhouse Theatre where we were seein a performance. It is just a 15 minutes walk from the railway station,10 from the bus station and 5 from a tram stop. We would happily stay here again.

The trick for this small boutique type hotel is to be prepared 1) to take the stairs (no elevator), 2) no front desk and 3) you won't see any hotel staff under normal circumstances. Check out is also a bit tricky, you leave your key in a cell of a lock box that opens with the proper code. Pay close attention to emails the day of your arrival from the hotel, otherwise you won't be able to enter the building.
