The old world faded charm.

The room was in the corner room in the worst located part of the hotel. Saturday evening I found out my room was directly above the evening musical entertainment! Hallway carpet to room needed vacuuming. Not done for two days until I alerted Reception. The plug to the bed side light on the left was disconnected and difficult to connect to the socket. The room bin had a deposit of unknown content in a plastic bag below the latest bag held in plastic at the bin rim. Furniture was cheap including the bed headboard. I could have been in any dingy accommodation rather than what is advertised; one of the grandest hotels in the town.There was no hairdryer. Not that I needed one but that's not the point. The shower head holder was not properly fixed in place. There was no loo brush. The window was small with no discernible view. Just rooftops. I've stayed in better rooms with no window.

Very friendly staff and lovely hotel with excellent views of the sea,interior of the hotel is beautiful.

Great location and generally a nice hotel. The breakfast is good and plentiful.

Bar service was very slow. The restaurant had run out of both the starter and the dessert I wanted. Using the pool, which is really small by the way, incurred an additional cost which seems petty.

Great location. Grand building. Sperb view (from our room) with comfy seats to admire the view. We had stayed vefore and will stay again.

Could do better with guests with dogs wanting food. No dog policy in restaurant and restricted/ limited in bar which means meals and breakfast in particular are not a good option.

The hotel was ideally situated for the beach and local attractions.

We were in a suite at the top of the hotel, it was too hot - no air conditioning, and the windows did not open sufficiently to get a draught flowing. The suite was dirty and dusty, it smelled musty, and looked very dated. The bath was damaged (see photos for details of all issues), the 'cleaner' had left a dirty blue cloth in the bath. The windows were filthy, the mirrors had not been properly cleaned, the pillows smelled unclean, the paintwork looked scruffy, there was a patch on the ceiling of the sitting room that had been badly repaired. The television in the bedroom was on a wonky bracket so it was at an angle with unsightly wires hanging down. There was a very poor selection of teas in the room with no coffee. The wiring on the radiator in the bathroom was untidy and potentially a risk. The bar closed at 12pm on a Saturday night when there were lots of residents in there who wanted to continue socialising, but this was not possible after the barman bellowed "last orders" and then ignored residents asking for drinks. There was no room service available either, so we had no choice but to return to our sauna of a room much earlier than we had planned to. I could continue all day, but my thumbs are getting tired listing all the negatives. I will NEVER return to this hotel, nor recommend that anybody else I know does. If the hotel owner has a shred of decency, they would give us a full refund for our trouble! However, I very much doubt that this will happen!

hotel rooms too hot. staff had no time for guests ie...barmaid went home at 11pm leaving several people in queue leaving bar totally unstaffed. went to breakfast buffet and only communication we got was u need to be quick as room is closing in 45 mins although it was 8.45 and info said breakfast between 8 and 10 seems like hotel is understaffed shame really as it looks beautiful. sash windows need reroping as the only open about 2 inches without falling shut which made the room on 4th floor like an oven very uncomfortable even sleeping on top of quilt so sad as hotel has lots of history and is a stunning building with great facilities charge a little more invest in maintaining and staff and this place would be fantastic
