Hotel Il Piccolo Giardino

Hotel was right off the main street so convenient but during dinner service it was very loud with musicians and chatter. Not a big issue as it usually quieted down by 11pm. The lift was broken and we were told at check-in it should be fixed that day. When we checked out 4 days later it was still not functioning and we had seen no one working on it for days. Hotel uses very strongly perfumed cleaners. We had to ask that they not clean our room as the smell was so overpowering it was making us sick. Breakfast was ok. Room is very basic with no storage, and very small, even by European standards.

Staff was lovely, elevator not working the whole time we were there but walkable. Convenience of everything around you.

Our stay at the Hotel II Piccolo Giardino was wonderful. It is conveniently located in the heart of Taormina. Breakfasts were delicious and we ate them every morning in their outside terrace area. Vincenzo was extremely helpful before and during our stay.

Our stay here was terrible. The room was not as advertised. The bathroom was dirty with mold inside the shower, the shower did not drain properly so ended up standing in our own waste water. Some of the staff were not very helpful with our concern and basically told us there was nothing they could do. The outdoor pool area was worn out with a broken ladder which is dangerous. The only shining light was Vincenzo at the front desk who was very helpful. I would not recommend staying here.

Very close to shopping and restaurants. The reception was not manned 24 hours. Opened at 8 a.m. and so no one to check out with.

Very small rooms but clean. Staff attentive and friendly. The only complaint was a broken elevator for the 4 nights we were there.

Plus points: Property is well located in the main town and all staff were friendly, helpful and amazing. Breakfast was ok but plenty of places to go out and get something nearby. Views from the hotel were great as well. Negative points: Pool area especially the decking area needed some repair and maintenance. Room was ok but shower had no pressure and kept running hot and cold while using it. Also shower could have done with a better clean. Lift was out of order for a couple of days. Other point to note: If you like a firm mattress you will sleep well in the beds.

We had a wonderful time at Il Piccolo Giardino - the hotel is in a great location with direct access to the pedestrian streets of beautiful Taormina. The cable car to Mazzaro is also only a 5 walk away. The hotel staff were so lovely and accomodating and provided us with information and recommendations. We enjoyed the simple buffet breakfasts. The rooftop pool is small but offers a nice view and a place to cool off the in the summer heat. If you have a car I would recommend using the valet service, which gave us a small discount on our parking but was also super convenient as the car was only ever a 10 minute wait and we didn’t need to walk/climb the stairs in the heat. We are returning to Taormina next year and would definitely consider staying here again.

Fantastic location with a great little pool. Good breakfast and really friendly staff.
