Clifton Hotel

Excellent sea front location. Easy parking on hotel property for extra charge. Very large and comfortable bed. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Large bar downstairs. Very reasonable room rate.

Rooms were very dated and the outside of windows were dirty. No cleaning or tidying done during our two night stay.

The location was good. The reception staff were nice and helpful. The public areas are well furnished and decorated.

The rooms were clean but very dated with very old painted wallpaper. There was a notice in the room that said that the rooms would not be serviced during our stay. I have never stayed in a hotel where rooms are not serviced and would question if it should be called a hotel with this level of service. There were two laundry room doors left open on our floor for the two days we were there. There was a washing machine and laundry items on show cor guests to see. I don't eat a cooked breakfast and asked if I could just have toast. My husband paid for a full breakfast on both days. On the first day the receptionist just charged an extra £1 for my toast, this appeared to upset the waitress in the dining room. On the following day we were told that we would have to sit outside the main dining room and eat our food sat on a sofa and coffee table because only guests paying for a cooked breakfast were allowed to eat in there. This was despite the fact that there were a maximum of 10 people in there on both days. We were told that the other dining tables were reserved for guests with dogs! We refused to sit on the sofa and sat at the 'dog owner' tables. No dog owners came to sit at the tables. I feel that we were unfairly penalised and made to feel very uncomfortable by this very petty behaviour. On the second day I was charged £6 for my toast and tea.

We liked everything all the staff so friendly and helpful food was good value room was lovely clean comfortable and a great sea view differently be going back

The only thing we didn't like was having to leave

When we had to use the lift,sometimes the cage was left open stopping us from using it.

Hotel was very clean. Staff were absolutely excellent and friendly. Will definitely be back
