"Pools too cold."

8.0

Nice clean hotel, spacious rooms. Disappointed with the Royal Level food options, better selection in the normal buffet resturant. Only one heated pool shaded with too many trees. Location is slightly isolated unless you like a long walk to shops and bars. Staff very friendly. Breeze resturant at lunch time was the best.

"A good 4*"

8.0

We stayed for two nights on a half board basis at the end of our mini tour of Tenerife this February, mainly to unwind and enjoy some sunshine before heading home. Overall, I would describe the hotel as a good four star, maybe even 4 star plus rather than a true five star experience. The main reason for this was the room. While comfortable, it felt a little tired and unfortunately wasn’t as clean as I would expect at this level. The grout in both the shower and around the toilet needed a thorough clean and had visible orange staining. Small details like that do make a difference. The same can be said of the courtesy shower rooms, pretty run down and definitely need a refurb. On arrival there was no complimentary water in the room, we weren’t provided with pool towels initially, and the phone wasn’t working. These were minor issues but again not quite what you anticipate from a five star property. There was also an odd radio in the toilet. Where the hotel really shines is in the grounds and pool areas. The gardens are beautifully maintained and the heated pool was excellent. The adult-only pool in particular was calm and very relaxing. It’s a lovely place to switch off. The food was of a good standard overall. Breakfast was stronger than dinner. There was no fresh barista style coffee, just small cups from the machine which there was usually a small queue, but the selection food and also smoothies and detox drinks at Drago buffet was impressive and a nice touch. One issue that did concern me at Drago was that the food labels were consistently incorrect. It appeared that dishes were replenished and placed in the wrong positions without updating the signage. For anyone with allergies or specific dietary requirements, this could be a real problem and is something that should be tightened up! Activities were well organised and varied. Really enjoyed the wine and cheese tasting. We had hoped to try the tunnel experience but it was fully booked until the following week, the reception explained a school group had reserved the allocation. It did feel slightly disappointing that hotel guests didn’t have a separate opportunity to book, or schedule this in advance of arrival. The evening entertainment was fairly underwhelming. It was mainly held in the large disco area downstairs, which felt a bit empty and lacked atmosphere, perhaps due to the season. I think hosting more of it outside, even with a few patio heaters, would create a much nicer setting and better use of the surroundings. The location is very quiet, which we were aware of when booking. It’s ideal if you’re looking for peace and relaxation, if you don't mind being close to the flight path, it’s only around 10 minutes’ drive to the airport. It’s also a great spot for stargazing. The organised activity was fully booked, but we wandered to a darker area outside the hotel and had a beautiful view of the night sky and used stargazing apps to pick out constellations. Other guests spoke very highly of the official activity, so it’s probably worth booking in advance. In summary, we enjoyed our short stay and the setting is genuinely lovely, but for us it didn’t quite deliver a five star experience. There are other five star hotels on the island that feel more polished, so we would likely try somewhere different next time.

"A lovely, relaxing break"

10.0

The room was large, comfortable and spotlessly clean (as was the rest of the complex). The staff were all warm and friendly. We did breakfast-only and the it was excellent. Plentiful, lots of choice and plenty of options for vegans and those with dietary allergies/intolerances. There was lots of space around the many pools and it was lovely having an adults-only pool which was a little quieter

"Lovely hotel withlovely staff - Will definitely be going back"

10.0

This may look a bit of a long review but i have tried to separate the important and not so important stuff. THE IMPORTANT STUFF: Hotel is lovely and clean with plenty of sunbeams in all areas (we did go out of season so not sure how this would be in season). We loved that their policy is to remove towels from sunbeds if they are left unattended. Rooms were lovely and clean, towels were huge which I love, toiletries included hair conditioner which you don't always get (may not be as good as you use at home but it does the job). There is also a decent hairdryer so no need to pack your own. The shower was really powerful which was great. Plus the pillows were comfy which is unusual in a hotel. A litre of water was left in the room every day but if you need more you can easily get it from the bar. We only ate in the royal level restaurant in the evening which was excellent but did check out the main restaurant which had lots of variety so I'm sure there would be something there for everyone. My only complaint I would have is that it was served on a cold plate and so goes cold quickly. The inclusive wine was lovely. The Breeze bar food in the daytime was excellent and the staff in both places were helpful and friendly. Plenty of choice of drinks in the bar and if you are on Royal level you can have a wider choice of premium drinks. We managed to get some of our favourite gins. THE NOT SO IMPORTANT STUFF: The beds are a bit of a problem. They are on wheels and if you sit up in bed it moves and your pillows fall down the back. This seemed to be common across the hotel and was not able to be fixed by maintenance. Not sure why they need to be on wheels. Bath in our room was supposed to have a jacuzzi bath which was a bit of a waste of time. We did try and run it on our first night but after about 15 minutes the water was nowhere near the jets as the filler tap was too small so gave up and used the shower. Not all of the bars are open out of season but you can always get a drink. It would be helpful though to have the proper times on the leaflet they give you rather than only showing the summer times as you have no idea what is open when. The airport is very close (which is why we chose this hotel but you do hear the planes go over. Wasn't a problem for us but may be to others. It was a shame that the outside heaters were running out of gas over the days we were there and so by the end of the week not many were working and they didn't have backup bottles. Fine in the summer but out of season you do need them if you want to sit outside. OTHER We didn't try the restaurants that you pay extra for. The one, there was no-one in there on any of the nights we were there and the Italian we didn't feel it offered anything special, though if you are a pizza lover you may feel different.

"Relaxing Stay, Excellent Buffet, Great Location"

10.0

We really enjoyed our stay! The rooms were nice and the resort has large, interesting grounds, so you don't feel like you are just walking around the same little area. The buffet was awesome! They tried to make it different every day, though we would have enjoyed it as-is. Restaurants on the grounds were great too and some weekends there was even an experience with a Michelin star chef. We had a booked tour on that date and wish we could go. It sounded like it was a great price! Ask about it when you plan your trip, it might be a much better value than going to a Michelin restaurant yourself. We were visiting from Canada and we really appreciated how peaceful and quiet the resort was, even though it is family-friendly and there were a lot of kids. There were always free spots by the pools and if you were just resting or tanning, even more so, as some pools were a bit cool and there were fewer people around them. We got all-inclusive and really enjoyed different cafes and bars throughout the resort. It was nice to have a drink outside in the afternoon and visit the patio in the evening. If you have never been to Tenerife before, this part of the island is somewhat windy. But it didn't bother us and it was even nice on warmer days. We went at the end of April-early May and it was already quite nice. It was a nice location, walkable to a beach and right on a boardwalk leading to two cute little towns in both directions. We also took a segway tour right from the resort, which was a lot of fun! We got to go a little ways away and see some surrounding towns. The only thing I would like to mention is that the 'spa' listed in amenities is not a real spa, it's just massage rooms with no saunas or steam rooms. It did say 'wellness' but we assumed there will be the usual shared amenities as well. Overall, it was a great stay, we would gladly stay there again.
