"Amazing hotel"

10.0

We had an amazing stay over NYE 2026. The key highlight is wide variety of delicious food included. Probably the best I have seen in hotels. NYE dinner was outstanding with a lot of expensive seafood at no extra cost. They also have very large pool areas. Can spend days staying just in the hotel. Thank you for this wonderful experience!

"Relaxed hotel with beautiful views"

10.0

I visited Barceló Tenerife recently to vet it for my clients, and I was honestly impressed. It’s sitting right on the edge of a nature reserve, so the views are stunning, you’ve got the sea on one side and Mount Teide on the other. The rooms are huge and really clean. The mattress and pillows were very comfortable, which is a massive plus for me. A huge highlight for me was the cheese tasting (definitely ask for Marie/Maria, she was brilliant and made it so much fun). If you need to unwind, the massage at the wellness center was one of the most professional I've had in a long while. The food situation is great too. I loved the "Grab and Go" bar, it’s such a relief to just grab a hot snack or an ice cream without having to commit to a full sit down meal every time you're hungry. Also, the cocktail list is actually high quality, not just the watered down stuff you sometimes get at big resorts. The staff really make the place. Leslie at reception gave me such a warm welcome and was super helpful throughout the stay. It has a very chilled atmosphere here with high energy when needed from the entertainment staff. Lots of activities for all ages and plenty of space around all the pools when needed. It had an adult only pool and a heated pool too. Just two small "heads up" things: It is very close to the airport (about 10 mins). This is great for a fast transfer, but you are directly under the flight path. The planes are low and loud. It didn't ruin my trip, but you'll notice it. Watch the shower! The hot water is really touchy, a tiny turn and it gets scalding or freezing fast. Just be careful with kids. Really great spot, and well worth the money. I’ll definitely be sending people here (and coming back myself).

"Short stay"

10.0

This hotel has everything you need for a break away. Shame we had a bit of a bad weather day and the stay was a bit too short to explore the entire hotel. But its beautiful and well located, food is fantastic and the staff is really friendly and helpfull.

"Awesome resort in quiet area by the sea"

8.0

I was happily surprised by the complexity of this beautiful resort. I highly valued the eco aspects of this resort and the decor, plants and the whole resort area was indeed beautiful! Even if there are loads of guests simultaneously at the resort, there's enough space to find quiet areas and comfort. A warm recommendation also to participate in the San Blas natur reserve tour, super interesting and nicely organized (kudos to Antonio the guide!I).

"Room for improvement"

8.0

Barcelo Tenerife, located in the South of Tenerife in the Golf Del Sur region is a short 10-15 minute drive to and from Tenerife South Airport. Mount Teide is visible in the distance from outside the hotel and we were lucky to have had one of the very few balconies with a view of the snow-covered top, visible on less cloudy days. The scattered layout of Barcelo Tenerife is difficult to navigate which means different areas can be left unexplored (Sala Magma, Interactive Museum, kayaks at the lake, various restaurants and the football, tennis and volleyball courts as those are located next to the Royal level). The hotel could make some changes to communicate this better and to ensure that guests get the full experience (signage, paper map, staff mentioning what’s on, inviting and making guests aware of events as staff at other hotels like Barcelo Lanzarote do closer to the time etc.). Whilst the Barcelo app explains what activities are on and enables some exploration of what the hotel offers, if you don’t use this or the touch screen in reception regularly, you’ll likely miss out on a fair bit. The hotel offers a well heated pool and other standard and Royal Level pools. There is sufficient car parking available both inside and directly outside the hotel. The main buffet restaurant Drago has various sections and the feel can be different depending on where you are seated by the staff. The food at the buffet can be hit and miss with great selection on some days and not so on others. Buffet staff could also be more warm and attentive; those interactions currently feel a little transactional and can be abrupt at times. There is also a slight language barrier with some buffet staff which led to miscommunication on a few occasions; for instance, we were told that soft drinks were free only to rack up a bill at the end of the stay. We stayed at Barcelo Lanzarote at the same time last year where soft drinks were free, food was quickly replenished with excellent variety and where the communication and service from all staff was impeccable. For the significantly higher price that Barcelo Tenerife charges compared to Barcelo Lanzarote, the hotel could improve on these points and take a leaf out of their book to bring it up to standard. Having said that, we were really pleased with the service from certain staff members at the hotel. In contrast to the experience at Drago buffet, the staff at the neighbouring La Dolce Vita restaurant were very professional, genuine and warm. Special mention to Yaiza at the experiences desk who patiently worked through our itinerary based on a hand-drawn map of the island that my wife had created with key hotspots and things to do. Yaiza helped us book some great excursions including Five Star Barco Catamaran, Teide Volcano tour and Jeep Safari to La Gomera. Staff at Barcy Club were also fab with our two boys; extremely welcoming and inclusive, they sang along to K-Pop Demon Hunters with our eldest and kept both kids engaged and saw the kids off really well. Our interactions with reception staff were positive and we also got a recommendation to visit Ice Dreams, a gelato shop in nearby El Medano; certainly worth a visit for a laid back authentic local spot with great sea views. Room cleaners did a great job and were always polite and friendly. Lastly, Salma at reception also dealt with us very pleasantly upon leaving. Overall, the hotel was a good spot to explore Tenerife from but there are a few things that could be worked on. Our tip for any guests would be to also explore the North of Tenerife thoroughly for a completely different feel and climate, just over an hour away from Barcelo Tenerife but does require a bit of travel and back and forth.

"So much to offer"

10.0

In a quiet resort not far from the airport so if aircraft noise is not your thing you are going to be missing out on a stay at a lovely hotel. In the room you barely heard them but obviously outside if they were taking off over the direction of the hotel it was louder than if they were incoming and that all depends on the winds direction. Some reviews focus on the few niggles they've had and others focus on the rest. I am the latter. I do not expect a hotel to be 100% perfect as that is impossible. However, this hotel was perfect for us. Some winter sun without too much travel once we arrived, close enough to walk into the shops, bars and restaurants of Golf del Sur or the other direction of Los Abrigos. The hotel has many different positives but it's sustainability and environmental impact was real. It was evident in all areas from growing produce to be used and using local seasonal produce, to the community initiatives the hotel support and if you don't know they have their very own nature reserve. Guided tours are available at a reduced rate for hotel guests. Personally I thought the price was good and only wish health-wise I was up to it. The usual pool and sports activities for all interests, ages and abilities plus local food and drink making and a recycled jewellery session that was bookable but no extra charge. Nothing was in your face or too loud around the pool. But if you wanted a very quiet pool experience just try one of the pools further up the complex including adult only. Around the hotel there were comfortable seats dotted about to sit and watch the world go by or read a book or even do a spot of work! The service was fantastic. Every member of the hotel team we encountered from the reception to the restaurant, the housekeeping and ground maintenance were hard working, courteous and willing to do anything they could to make our stay the best.

"Staff make this place shine!"

8.0

The hotel exceeded expectations in some ways, but none more so than the colleagues who were exceptional and regularly went above and beyond. In particular, José-D (Grinchy) was very engaging and friendly, always remembering people's names and making the best cup of tea, and Ivan (Events Team) who was fantastic with guests of all ages, always maintaining an upbeat and active manner. The downsides were, building work taking place every day outside my balcony and the food was inconsistent, some days very good other days very bad (served raw chicken), and the spa services were average and not really worth the money.
