Mercure Thame Lambert Hotel

My room was No 3 which is in the main hotel next to the main road and therefore was woken up by road noise.

Room was cleaned but not Covid cleaned. Dirty glasses, crumbs and spillage near tea facilities, bathroom floor not cleaned. Tv remote batteries held in by a plaster. Kettle didn’t turn its self off. Pat tested three years ago. Breakfast eggs were unpalatable, looked like vomit. Should be rated 3 star not 4.

The staff were excellent, very helpful and friendly, the breakfast provided covered all options and was great quality. Only issue was the bath interior was scuffed and damaged.

Check-in was easy but the rest of my stay was terrible. The phone in the room didn’t work and I had to ring on my mobile 6 times before I got through to someone in reception. I asked for an iron and was told that they would send one up. An hour later, it still didn’t arrive and when I rang reception nobody answered. I had to walk back down to ask again and it was another twenty minutes before it arrived to my room, without an ironing board. I tried to iron without an ironing board and ended up burning myself. All of this chasing also made me late to the event I booked the room to attend. When I went to bed, I noticed that the pillows were filthy and had some sort of brown mark on them. The room was generally gross, with brown smudges all over the kettle. I asked for room service and was told this wasn’t an option because of Covid, but it was advertised on their website as an option. This was one of my worst hotel experiences, especially considering the cost of their rooms.
