Shangri-La Boracay

The family and I had an amazing experience at the Shangri La, such an amazing incorporation of the nature of Boracay. The facilities were amazing and the staff make you feel like family. Calvin at the beach bar and restaurant took care of us and elevated our already spectacular experience. Thank you very much!

The property is in need of a major renovation as it feels quite outdated overall. Many areas of the resort require attention — from worn signage boards and missing pebbles along the walkways to a very outdated spa pool. The overall design and condition do not live up to what one would expect from a five-star resort. The food was unfortunately very salty during our stay. However, breakfast did offer a good variety of local Filipino dishes, which was appreciated.

Upon check-in, I was informed that I needed to pay an additional 6000 PHP, which was not the rate quoted to me on Booking.com. The staff had to call a manager to resolve the issue, and eventually I was able to pay the original Booking.com rate. There was also a significant misunderstanding with the gym manager, who treated me quite disrespectfully during the interaction. Overall, the staff came across as rude and spoke with very little care or professionalism. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I don’t think I will be returning.

A wonderful resort with one of the world’s best beaches. White soft sand, warm crystal clear water. We stayed in a sea view suite with hot tub, absolutely worth the splurge. Many thanks to our concierge, Marja, for being so attentive and helpful. Room was huge, comfy bed, great air con, west facing for gorgeous sunsets from the balcony. Loved the hot tub! Staff is friendly and caring, always smiling and happy to help. Breakfast was plentiful, delicious and with great variety. Staff and service is very efficient, so you never have to wait for anything special ordered. It’s all brought to your table. Plenty of dinner restaurant choices on site. Sirena (fish) requires reservations. Lovely atmosphere and delicious food. The Asian restaurant was very good, but lacking in atmosphere unless you sit outside. (Same space as breakfast and a little cavernous). There are two beaches. The “private” beach is next to the huge swimming pool area, with plenty of sundbeds dotted throughout. As it is next to food and ice cream choices, this area is a favorite place for families and kids. We preferred the somewhat quieter “public” beach. Sunbeds were plentiful and very comfy. One small suggestion to the hotel: ensure daily attendance at the bar to ensure cold water and ice are available constantly. Spa: I had one fabulous massage. So good, I wish I had gone twice. The property is showing it’s age, something every beach resort has to deal with due to salt air, humidity, etc. However, the wonderful staff, gorgeous setting and good food makes this a fabulous place to stay. We look forward to returning. Tip: Lots of good restaurant choices “in town”, just a 15 minute inexpensive tuktuk ride (or free shuttle bus) from the hotel. Worth going for an evening walk on the beach as well. No need to stay anywhere but the ShangriLa! Staff great at recommending restaurants.

Nous avons passé un excellent séjour dans cet hôtel. Les chambres sont spacieuses, très confortables et parfaitement équipées. Nous avons particulièrement apprécié la machine à café Nespresso dans la chambre ainsi que tous les produits de toilette fournis, ce qui rend le séjour encore plus agréable. L’établissement est réellement luxueux et très bien entretenu. La piscine est grande, très agréable, et il y a toujours des transats disponibles, ce qui est un vrai plus pour pouvoir se détendre à tout moment de la journée. La plage est également magnifique : très propre et sans algues, idéale pour profiter pleinement de la mer. Dans l’ensemble, c’est un hôtel de grande qualité que nous recommandons sans hésitation.

Le seul petit point à améliorer serait l’animation : il y en a peu durant la journée (il faut s'inscire en avance et personne ne le fait) et aucune le soir. Un peu plus d’activités ou d’ambiance en soirée rendrait l’expérience encore plus parfaite. Cela est forcement due au grand nombre de mariages organisés à l'hôtel (quasisment 5 par semaine). La restauration est un peu cher mais de qualité.

Es war einfach Perfekt. Ein wahnsinnig gutes Frühstücksbuffet. Das Personal ist unglaublich freundlich und zuvorkommend. Es gibt einen kostenlosen Shuttle in die Stadt. Mein Mann wurde krank, es gibt eine eigene Clinic im Hotel die 24 Stunden besetzt ist-was für ein Service. Die Ärztin ist auch in der Nacht noch aufs Zimmer gekommen um zu sehen wie es ihm geht. Das ganze Team hat hier erstklassige Arbeit geleistet und wir bedanken uns dafür sehr herzlich. Es ist auch extra ein Abendessen mit Reissuppe und Obst ins Zimmer gebracht worden. Wir wurden auch zum Röntgen in die Stadt gefahren mit Security und Krankenschwester ohne extra Berechnung!! Danke Shangri-La wir kommen gerne wieder.
