Dear Shangri-La Team, I would like to express my sincere appreciation to your security team, guest services, and bar staff for their exceptional assistance during my recent stay. I accidentally dropped my reading glasses, and your staff went above and beyond to help locate them. From the bar staff who first took my concern seriously, through guest services, and all the way to your security personnel, everyone was instrumental in tracking them down. Without their effort, I would not have been able to see properly for the remainder of my vacation. Through the combined use of my own GoPro footage and your hotel’s CCTV system, we were able to pinpoint where the glasses were last seen—near the area where a wedding was being set up. Your security guard promptly followed up and was able to recover them from the wedding setup crew, who had found the glasses on the steps leading down to the beach. The integrity, professionalism, and honesty demonstrated by your staff were truly commendable. Their willingness to help and their sense of responsibility reflect extremely well on Shangri-La, and I am very grateful for their support. Please extend my thanks to everyone involved. Facility was impeccably kept but somewhat dated and undergoing renovations in some areas. Service was very good overall, amenities were good and our villa was beautifully appointed with a butler included (Jerome was readily available and attended to all our needs). Unfortunately they failed miserably in addressing an issue that came up with a planned wedding party boat tour. A private boat tour was planned with pick up from Shangri La. The hotel would not allow the boat to dock forcing transfer to occur by multiple small boat trips and transfers. This was also attempted by elderly people in our large group that had approximately 30 people but was impossible for them due to their physical limitations and waves making transfer too difficult for them. Our requests for a supervisor were ignored as well as help trying to accommodate the elderly people in our party (we decided it would be safer to have them board elsewhere but could get no help trying to facilitate transfer of guests by car to another location). There was never an explanation as to how they decided to let a small motor boat dock and transfer guests but not the larger vessel although the security guard at the dock implied that the depth of water was not adequate for the yacht to take on passengers. How he decided this remains a mystery and was clearly wrong (after a great sunset cruise we easily deboarded at the Station 1 floating dock in water that had people literally standing in waist high depth - shout out to the captain that made it look easy swinging the boat around people wading in the water and reversing in to dock among multiple other vessels at what looked like a floating dock made of legos!) So essentially the explanation from Abner the security guard at the dock was that if a guest was injured during the transfer out in the ocean, it wasn’t their responsibility or problem. After being promised a supervisor, none appeared and no explanation was given as to why no one was willing to come have a conversation with our party. Definitely disappointing from what is considered a 5 star hotel.

During the year-end holidays, I spent five nights at the Shangri-La Boracay, and I must say it was a truly delightful stay.
One of the things I really appreciated is that from the moment you arrive at Boracay Airport until the time you return there to depart, you don’t have to worry about anything at all: the resort picks you up right outside the terminal, takes you to its private lounge at the port, and from there you board their speedboat that brings you directly to the resort. Shangri-La Boracay is located in the northern part of the island, far enough from the hustle and bustle of White Beach to guarantee peace and quiet, yet close enough to reach it in just a few minutes whenever you feel like going. Despite the resort being very large and having a high number of rooms, its exclusive location makes it a true oasis of tranquility, and you never get the feeling of staying in a crowded property, even during peak season. Guests have access to two beautiful private beaches with umbrellas and sun loungers, as well as swimming pools surrounded by lush greenery. Everything is extremely well maintained, and the gardens are full of tropical, flourishing plants, helped by the warm and humid Philippine climate. We stayed in a base-level room, but despite that it was incredibly spacious and spotless, with a very comfortable bed, a large furnished terrace, and a shower with excellent water pressure. Our room was on the same floor as the lobby, which was very convenient as it allowed us to avoid constantly using the elevators. Upon request, guests can use golf carts to move easily around the resort, just make a call and they arrive quickly. The culinary offering is truly worthy of a five-star hotel: a wide choice of restaurants catering to all tastes, all of very high quality. We always ate extremely well and hardly felt the need to go “downtown” for dinner. Of course, prices are not low and are definitely higher than those of the restaurants around D’Mall. Our favorite restaurants were Rima and Sirena. We often had lunch at Cielo while spending time at the beach (the pizza is very good), while breakfasts at Vintana were outstanding, one of the most impressive buffets I have ever seen. From fresh sushi to delicious pastries, there was absolutely everything, making it impossible not to find something to your liking. The only note regarding food and beverage is that the wine lists could be improved a bit (in a high-end steakhouse like Rima, I would expect better labels than an American “Woodbridge” Cabernet Sauvignon that costs around 6 USD at the supermarket). One important detail not to be overlooked is the complimentary shuttle service that takes guests to Station 2. The schedule is fixed and there are not departures at all hours, but if you prefer more flexibility, the resort staff can arrange a tuk-tuk for you, which arrives within minutes and at a very reasonable cost. A special mention goes to the New Year’s Eve party, which was extremely well organized: Shangri-La guests enjoyed complimentary snacks and an open bar, a DJ set, a very talented live band, and a beautiful fireworks display over the sea. Well done. Without a doubt the best resort in Boracay (and the price reflects it). I would definitely return.

Our stay at Shangri-La Boracay was exceptional in almost every way. From the moment you arrive at the airport until the moment you leave the island, the service is genuinely proactive rather than reactive. You feel welcomed immediately, and that sense of being valued remains consistent throughout the entire stay. Across all areas of the resort, every staff member made us feel well cared for and appreciated. This level of attentiveness and consistency is rare and is what truly defines the Shangri-La experience. Traveling with children felt effortless because of the warmth, professionalism, and attentiveness of the team. The facilities, overall atmosphere, and on-property service exceeded expectations and clearly reflect world-class hospitality. We didn’t even have to leave the hotel because everything was already there. That said, I would like to share one pre-arrival experience that stood out in contrast to the otherwise excellent standards of the resort. Prior to arriving, my children and I were planning to tag along with my husband, who was attending a conference at the hotel. Since our plans were still evolving and we were considering extending our stay by one night, I called reservations to ask about the group rate first, as the booking was already under the conference. The reservations agent said she did not have information on the group rate. When I asked if I could be referred to the sales person handling the group booking, I was told that sales did not know the group rate and that the event organizer was the one who had this information and should be contacted instead. She also mentioned that there were no sales team members on duty at the time because it was a holiday, adding “tska wala din pong sales ngayon.” At that point, I was the one repeatedly asking questions and trying to find a way to help myself — requesting a contact number or email address so I could follow up at a later time. Unfortunately, no contact details or alternative solutions were provided at all, and the conversation continued to feel as though I was being shut down rather than guided toward a resolution. As the call became increasingly strained, I then asked a separate and very straightforward question: how much the rate would be if discounted under PWD. I was initially told that this could not be applied because the booking was part of a group. Out of frustration, I unintentionally cut the agent off to clarify that I was only asking how much the discounted rate would be, not requesting that it be applied. She did eventually provide the discounted rate, and the call ended shortly after. While I regret interrupting the agent, the interaction as a whole was frustrating and unnecessarily tense. What was missing was a solution-oriented approach — calm explanation, reassurance, or clear next steps. This felt inconsistent with the level of training and guest handling one would expect from a reservations team at a property of this caliber. Thankfully, this was an isolated experience. Once we arrived, the exceptional on-ground service more than made up for it. The warmth, professionalism, and attentiveness of the rest of the team truly embodied the Shangri-La standard and turned our stay into a memorable one. Overall, Shangri-La Boracay remains an outstanding resort. I share this feedback in the spirit of refinement, because when the service is done right here, it is genuinely among the best.

Jeg kan ikke komme i tanker om noget. Hvis jeg absolut skal, så kunne vinduerne i vores ville godt trænge til at blive pudset.
