The hotel relies on a good location and large coach tour groups for business. It makes little effort with guests. Rooms are small, with limited facilities (no tea or coffee, no fridge etc). Decor and bathrooms need an upgrade. We stayed for 4 nights and were given a twin room despite having asked for a double. When we asked to change we were told that the hotel was full but that the next morning a room would be available. When we returned to the reception the following morning, we were told no other rooms were available but that they would fix the single beds together. This didn't happen. The views are good but ours was partially obscured by the hotel extension in front, even though we had paid for a room with a fjord view. We asked to drop off laundry and were told the hotel doesn't provide this service - they were also unable to direct us to a place that could wash our clothes. The breakfast is average. We received far better rooms, service, food and facilities in hotels we paid half the price for elsewhere in Norway - I'd highly recommend that anyone considering this hotel looks for alternatives in the area.

"Paper thin walls and giant tour group parties"

2.0

This hotel was probably nice in the 60s but they’ve gotten so accustomed to gorging tourists that they haven’t bothered reinvest in the building. The walls are paper thin. Groups from boats and bus tours fill most of the property, holding raucous parties even after the bar closes at 1am, playing the hotel provided piano blasting into every room long after you wish you were asleep. Employees are accustomed to the complaints and do little to actually address them, saying what’s needed just for you to leave them alone. In spite of the outrageous price and terrible value, we decided to stay in crowded Geiranger out of convenience to avoid driving an extra hour either direction. Not worth it. Food was mediocre at best. Geirangerfjord itself is beautiful but views typically obstructed by giant cruise ships.

"Exceeded expectations!"

10.0

Two exceptional surprises were a free upgrade to a room with the view of the fjord and a packed breakfast waiting for us as we departed at 4am! Staff friendly and helpful. Rooms spacious, clean and comfy. Perfect location for us without a car and having some walking challenges. Highly recommend!

"Can’t go wrong in Geiranger"

10.0

Geiranger could be the most picturesque place on earth. Hotel and room were both great. We got in late but thankfully there was a nice little French restaurant short walk away that took us at 22:00.

"Superb staff! Impressive service!"

10.0

Superb staff!!! Blown away by the service! We were a bit late and emailed the hotel to inform that we would be a bit late. They replied and asked which route we were going via as one of the routes, which we were like 5kms away from, was closed due to snow. We then called them and got guidance to the alternate route and which ferries we had to take and we briefly mentioned that we had to skip dinner to make it to the last ferry in time. When we came to the hotel at 22:30 we were informed that they had put a light 3 course meal with prawns, salmon, strarberries etc on our room! 😍 Free of charge! Most likely left overs from their lunch/dinner but for us it was just what we needed after a 2.5h detour. When I was going to connect my car to the hotel’s charger it was dead but they called a nearby hotel (1km away) and arranged for me to go and charge my car there instead. So friendly and solution-driven staff!

"Amazing view, Awful food"

4.0

The view from our Fjord room was breathtaking. The food quality of the buffet dinner and breakfast was pretty bad though. The dinner was very expensive, and the food was cold, over cooked, and we found a good sized glass shard in the roasted vegetable dish. The wait staff didn't seem to care about the glass shard, and we spent the rest of the meal double checking our bites rather than enjoying them. For an expensive meal, the experience was pretty darn bad and I would go any where else for food. The waiting staff is also quite pushy to get people out of the dining area as they walk around telling everyone that they will be putting the food away in ten minutes, for what is only a 2 hour window for dinner, and breakfast served until 10. So as far as mediocre food goes, this was by far the worst food we had on our entire trip to Norway, and by far the rudest wait staff experience. We had far superior food at the cafes elsewhere in Geirainger that were happy to let us eat at our leisure. The hotel looks nice enough from the surface, but it is at the end of the day very much a 2 or 3 star hotel, just with an outstanding view. The TV in our room didn't work, the hallways were very musty and smelled of mildew. The "a la carte" restaurant and primary lounge/bar were both closed for renovation during our stay. The front desk staff was very polite, and were happy to help us with directions since the a bunch of the normal roads were closed due to snow.

The property is so beautiful in every way! Our room is clean and the view is amazing! On check in Christopher was tremendously helpful with our booking, and information on dinner, as it was late when we arrived. We received a great friendly welcome that has continued throughout our stay!
