Nothing all perfect

This was the 1st time staying in this hotel. Hotel was central to the city + was just a few minutes walk from either Central or Queen Street train stations. Just a 5/10 minute walk to the city centre. Hotel has 21 floor levels and has some great views of the city. From certain floor levels you can actually see and hear the trains. The rooms are spacious, have adjustable temperature dial, have a safe. Bathroom extractor fan wasn't noisy.

No extra pillows or blanket. No mini fridge in the room. No biscuits available for tea. Room doesn't get cleaned daily. Room could perhaps do with a cosy chair. Shower is over the bath and is high to step in and out from.

Main reception areas and dining room were nice. Location was great. Breakfast good.

Standard rooms very dated, and very very basic, like a Travelodge room, expected a lot more from radisson blu as treble the price. No frills, no lamps, no mirrors over dressing table, marked carpets and scuffs on furniture, just blackout lining for curtains and hard pillows. Very disappointing.

We have stayed at this property a number of times and have always had a good experience, however our last visit was a few years ago (maybe 3) and the drop in standards was unbelievable. From one of the best hotels we’ve gone to in Cardiff to by far the worst and it’s not even close! The rooms were disgusting, our friends changed twice due to sticky stains everywhere, and other general filthiness. We ourselves upgraded on the day to a superior room, which was if anything a down grade - dirty, and with single beds when we booked a double (we were not advised it would be single beds when offered the upgrade). We were given a junior suite in the end - which is why this isn’t a 1 out of 10, but it turned out we had stayed in the specific suite before (we stayed here for anniversaries in the past) and the comparison was shocking, even this room had ‘hairs’ in the bath, stains everywhere and we just looked forward to leaving. A shame but we would never return and an embarrassment with our friends as we insisted this was the nicest hotel on our list.

The location of the hotel was close to the high street and the station.

Everything about the hotel, from its price, staff, cleanliness, and responsiveness, was poor. Housekeeping was the worst of all, with no ownership taken. When I submitted a complaint about it, all they did was simply apologize and explain their housekeeping policy to us. Housekeeping once a day is a normal routine, which wasn't even done to 50%. The beddings were simply just put on, floors left dirty, and the tissue box kept scattered. The response to attend to certain needs was too slow or ignored. They even gouged the price up, as the usual 3-night price I saw was £292, and they charged us a whopping £523.

My husband and I visit at least once a year, and we wouldn’t stay anywhere else!! The location is 10/10 for shopping, restaurants and more.

There isn’t anything I could fault whatsoever!
