Tulip Inn Honfleur Residence

We stayed in room 404 in the annex from the 14-16th November checking out today. We reported during our stay several times that our room smelt of sewage and stagnant water and it was not suitable to stay in. The smell was overpowering and made us feel quite sick to the point we had to sit with the doors open despite it being winter making the room cold and unbearable. The hotel staff responded by coming to the room and spraying perfume spray which covered it up for a short time and then it returned even worse than before. We asked to change rooms and were told they would check and despite us asking again they did nothing to change our room. They asked if we wanted clean towels but our room was not cleaned despite our friends who were staying at the same time and in room 402 having theirs cleaned. This meant at no point during our stay were any efforts made to clean the room and try and get rid of the smell. We are so disappointed as despite the fact we tried to speak with hotel staff several times for a resolution there was none and we were left in a room that was damaging to our health. This completely ruined our break and we had to stay out of the room the entire day and night returning late enough so we only needed to be in there to sleep for a few hours as we couldn’t stomach being in the room as the smell of sewage was so strong. We have spent much more having to stay out for so long each day and night and given the weather this has not been pleasant as it has been wet and cold and we would have liked to have spent some time in the room where we could have warmed up and relaxed. Upon arriving home we have needed to wash everything we took with us including wiping over items such as hair straighteners and make up bags as they smell had clung to all of our belongings. We have made contact with the hotel again since returning home to ask for a refund and have been told no which is really disappointing given the level of upset and unpleasantness. We will never return despite the hotel thinking that offering a 25% discount off our next stay would suffice especially given the lack of attention and accountability during our stay and since leaving.

We had a very comfortable stay. These are the positives: ample parking, quiet room (even though our room faced the road), kitchenette in room with necessary crockery and cutlery, comfortable bed, fair sized swimming pool, attentive and friendly staff, walking distance Honfleur centre, Lidle over the road, small balcony with table and two chairs, sauna and steamroom, daily emptying of bins and clean towels. Definitely recommend.

Good location with parking

Upon arrival, we found an old half eaten Pizza in the refrigerator. The freezer compartment hat mold in it. Nasty! When the staff was confronted they only offered to clean the mess up - no senior staff/manager was available and no courtesy compensation was been made at all! One door in the closet for the clothes was missing, so not possible to close the closet. The makeup mirror in the bathroom was half ripped out of the wall and no staff had tried to fixed it. Not possible to take a shower as the showerhead is handheld not wall mounted. The Hotel has probably been great back in the days. Those days are long gone - will absolutely not recommend staying at this hotel.

We had 3 nights, lovely hotel. Very easy to walk into town anytime of the day. Clean and comfortable room. Had hoped to use the pool but just didn’t get the time. Had breakfast on our last day as we needed to leave early, Absolutely amazing and the choices were great. Would definitely recommend staying at the Tulip Inn Honfluer.

Just returned from the Tulipinn Hotel Hornfleur after spending 6 days there. The reception staff didn’t speak English and very unhelpful. We booked 2 Superior Studios with balcony. We got one front room with balcony and a back room which wasn’t the same. When trying to communicate with reception she didn’t understand. The rooms wasn’t cleaned during our stay the only thing they did was change the towels and empty the bins. Breakfast was very basic and the coffee far too strong and the machine only filled the cup half full. Definitely wouldn’t recommend this hotel.

Lovely staff, nice hotel. Really enjoyed our time there, have already booked to stay again as it’s very good for going out in Honfleur

Great place to stay for a short break. Easy walk into the town which has some wonderful restaurants. Lidl directly opposite . Plenty to do locally
