Hmmm, it's difficult for me to criticise service, as I have worked in the customer service industry for some time. But some things have to be said. It is clear that there are some maintenance issues, general up-keep that is being missed or over looked. On the number of visits we have enjoyed at Thornton Hall, there are increasingly noticeable pieces in the rooms in which we have stayed, little annoyances really, but it is the difference between the WOW factor and the feeling that you aint' getting value for money, points being there were bits pealing wall paper, miscellaneous marks here and there, ripped curtains, malfunctioning furniture (the desk drawers kept opening on their own randomly). Moving on to the dining experience. The meal that we had in the Grill restaurant, I felt was over priced and substandard. If you were able to order the same meal at Wetherspoons, for example (I am in no way connected with this company I hasten to add), the comparison will be tangible. Arranging the 8 chips in a fancy hatch stack does not make the small fish and desert spoon of mushy peas and the standard burger and same arranged, chips - any more appealing or palatable. Our special over-nighter, could have been better. In contrast, the Breakfast buffet the following Saturday morning, was excellent. The breakfast restaurant was busy, yet the buffet was well stocked with Hot, Continental and Cereals and all of the accoutrement. I defy any one not to find something to suit their dietary requirements here. Coffee and tea flowed on request. The Spa facilities were really enjoyable, the early check-in was much appreciated. I find the facility's changing rooms are looking a bit tired and the wet clothes spinner sounded like a chinook taking off. but everywhere was clean and tidy. The staff - ALL the staff were excellent. very attentive. We will be back.

Such a lovely place,very relaxing staff friendly and very helpful, rooms are amazing, we just stayed in the executive suite with a balcony so beautiful. Thank you thornton hall.

What a wonderful find this hotel was. We hired the Oak Room to host a family afternoon tea for 15 guests to celebrate an 80th birthday, and it truly exceeded our expectations. The room looked lovely, with the additional table decorations adding an extra-special touch. The afternoon tea was beautifully presented, with a delicious mix of sweet and savoury items, and every dietary requirement was thoughtfully catered for. The sales team were a pleasure to deal with, providing clear and friendly communication throughout the planning process. On the day itself, the staff were exceptional — everything ran seamlessly, support was always on hand, and they even kindly helped cut and box up the cake at the end of the afternoon. It made the whole celebration relaxed and thoroughly enjoyable for everyone.

Complete and utter shambles from start to finish. Booked via Wowcher a double room the day before our visit, booked a double room, done the pre check in and had a email to confirm everything. 10 minutes later had a call from Laura (manager) to say that there had been a mistake, there were no double rooms available and that our room had been changed to a twin, I called my girlfriend to break the good news! In the meantime Laura(manager) had called me back to say that she had got a cancellation and our twin room was now a double room AGAIN!!,,this was great However……. At 11:30am on the day of arrival I received a call from Georgia (another Manager) stating that there had been a mix up and there were no available rooms and that I could book another date if I wished!!!, hardly 4 star service 30 mins before I was due to arrive at the venue, after booking my 2 dogs into kennels, arranged for my 2 children to stay with grandparents and travelled almost 2 hours up the M6. After a brief discussion and ANOTHER phone call miraculously my double room became vacant again and we checked in to the property. The hotel itself looks very tired from the outside, the food was gorgeous and the drinks were good. The spa itself is small and has only 8 sun loungers by the pool. On the whole not the peaceful relaxing spa experience we wanted. I would avoid in future

We went here for my wife's birthday, its a really excellent hotel, good food, rooms, spa and friendly staff

It was the first time I had stayed at the hotel and the first time I had been to a spa but I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was. The hotel room was spacious, clean and well stocked with tea and coffee. The room was serviced and overall the staff of the hotel were welcoming and helpful. The spa was excellent and staff were welcoming and helpful. I would definitely visit again.

We stayed at TH for an event. The bedrooms were large and clean. We stayed 2 nights so helpful to have 2 separate dining options. The staff were excellent.
