The fact I’m still awaiting a refund from Booking.com as they seriously messed up the booking and agreed to refund. This was about 6 weeks ago and still not been refunded.

The best thing about the hotel was the staff. They were amazing and I could not fault any of them.

The hotel itself was a disappointment. The first room we were allocated was fine: corporate vibes, small, not very inspired and dated. We asked to move rooms as the bed felt very small- it was as advertised so it was just a request not a complaint. Luckily we were able to move into the main building and Room 2. The main building decor is much nicer and the room was certainly more as I had originally expected. But for a 4 star hotel charging high prices, it lacked the level of upkeep that you’d expect: no tv remote control (although a fantastic receptionist hunted one down for us), the bedside light didn’t work and it just felt generally like it needed a bit of tlc (esp the floorboards!). I would also hope for nicer amenities than were provided: separate shampoo and conditioner for example. The spa was a major let down. We were there on a Saturday afternoon so it was busy. But charging £9.50 for a robe seems excessive (esp as the robe I was given felt like it would be the right size for my 11 year old!). The facilities felt dated and not at all like I was in a relaxing environment. The food was fine (we had room service) although I nearly fell off the bed when I realised a pint of coke had cost £9.50.

The pool area is lovely.

We saw rats running on the lawn of the property while in the bar on the first night. We went for dinner then and the rats were running by the window while we were eating. We were unable to eat the food at the restaurant and complained to staff. We spoke to the reception staff who didnt seem to concerned about the presence of rats right outside the restaurant. The rooms were not clean with dust all over the phone, TV and cabinets. The mattresses and pillows had no protectors on them they were all stained. There was a foul smell in the corridors of the hotel.
