The Payogan Villa Resort & Spa

This hotel is in a quiet area with great on site facilities. Our room with private pool was beautiful. The food at the restaurant was also very good. All of the staff were very helpful. Having a shuttle bus service to the centre of Ubud was great too.

The Payogan has all the bones of what would make a great resort. There just wasn't enough happening to make it feel alive. The main pool which is the central focal point was hardly used, and the villa that we stayed in had rooms which were very dark and felt like a cave. It was a beautiful location which felt like a ghost town, despite being fully booked at the time.

A great place to stay, tranquil setting blends in with the surrounding forest and stream. A 7 minute free return shuttle ride away from Ubud town where you'll be spoilt for choice for places to eat catering to all tastes. Very private villas, some with their own pool. A classy romantic retreat, highly recommended. Recommend going to town for dinner instead of at the resort.

I chose The Payogan Villa Resort & Spa solely based on the pictures from the website. However, when my wife and I arrived to our room, it was not as good as how pictures portrayed. We reserved a room with private pool. The room turned out to be a villa and it was very spacious. It had great views and illumination was very pleasant. However, as I previously mentioned, it looked older than how pictures portrayed, that's including some of the room amenities. It was supported by only one small A/C, which wasn't capable of cooling the entire villa. The shower and bath area was exposed to outside, so it was a bit awkward for us... The resort was away from 10-15 minutes away from restaurants. Nothing was available within walking distance. Lobby wasn't exactly 4.5 Star as well... it was staffed by only one person with old systems. It seemed like they operated primarily on walkie-talkies and phone. Wi-Fi was only available in lobby. Breakfast buffet was not a top quality as well..

The first villa we saw was not exactly to our liking but the staff worked with us and was very accommodating to our needs. They then showed us a 2bdrm villa with private pool that we fell in love with immediately. It was everything we wanted and more. The meals were very delicious with the option of room service for no additional cost. The hotel grounds were well kept and beautiful. The spa services were also amazing. All staff was very nice. Will definitely stay here again.

This is probably the most awesome place I have ever stayed! We woke up and did yoga on our own private balcony overlooking the jungle!!! Our balcony and private infinity pool was complete private and magnificent! The staff were endearingly nice and grounds immaculate. The free breakfast was also wonderful!

Booked because of the extras of gym and 24 hour room service. Was told gym not open during stay. Room service till 11pm only. Also told that Wifi is only in public areas not in villas, but it worked in our villa anyway. Really annoying as thats the main reason we booked, as plenty of choice at this price point.

I stayed for 3 nights with my brother and sister. We loved how peaceful the hotel was. It's about 7min drive into the city center, but they provide free shuttle in/out town every 2 hours. Amazing views of the jungle ravine. The villas are beautiful and extremely clean. The hotel property is large and has very nicely manicured gardens throughout. The main pool area and restaurant has beautiful view to enjoy while you eat your breakfast. And the complimentary breakfast was the best I've had yet in Indonesia. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. It was an absolute oasis away from some of the craziness of the main cities. I really don't have any complaints. I would definitely come back!!
