"Great place to stay"

Excellent location, excellent facility, excellent staff. Only thing I think could be improved was bed comfort. They were firm for my liking and the pillows were also. Other than that great place

"Dissatisfaction with billing and follow up communication"

Check-in at the Residence Inn Harrisonburg, VA approx 5:30pm on 4/30 was terrific. Check-out at 8:00am on 5/1 was highly unsatisfactory. I was offered a different room and lower room rate at check-in. I accepted the offer and was grateful for the staff person who suggested it. The next morning, I saw my bill and discovered I was billed the higher rate. I asked the morning desk clerk about this. He said he would check with his manager (who was not currently available). I received an updated email later in the day (after I had long departed) with a bill for the exact same higher rare. There was no explanation regarding why the lower rare was not honored. I felt like I was either shooed away from the front desk in the morning so that they did not have to engage me in person with a negative response, or that the morning desk staff did a poor job of relaying my concern and ensuring appropriate customer service follow through. Either way I am left with a negative feeling from this Marriott location. It was very atypical compared to my previous experiences at numerous other Marriott sites.

"I was in town for an overnight stay for a bike event."

The hotel was neat, clean, and seemed relatively new. I can't comment on the breakfast, only because my event started at 7am so breakfast (also at 7am) was too late for me to take advantage of it. The staff was very friendly and helpful. When I was having computer problems with my laptop they printed the cue sheet for me to take on my ride.

My room's door handle/locking was a bit wonky; I had to hold it just right for it to lock when it shut.

"Great location"

Great location is going to see a college football game. Lots of restaurants close and some even in walking distance Rooms very clean, good amenities. Breakfast very good. Quite. Bedding comfortable

"Big miss for me"

I’m a Marriott Bonvoy Platinum Elite member and booked a 1-bedroom, 2-queen suite over six weeks in advance (Feb 11 for a March 28 stay), so I came in with reasonable expectations. Check-in was polite, but that’s about where the positives end. - No acknowledgment of elite benefits beyond the basics — no welcome offering, snacks, or even a mention of options - Assigned a first-floor room despite my profile preference for upper floors - Told the hotel was completely sold out and no changes were possible The bigger issue: the room itself. - We were placed in an accessible room with a roll-in shower (not requested) - The bathroom was visibly dirty - Hallways had a strong odor of cigarette smoke mixed with mildew/mold We immediately left the room and returned to the front desk. The associate was kind but essentially confirmed there was nothing she could do. She did call another property for us, which I appreciated — but at that point, we had no choice but to leave. This stay missed on fundamentals: cleanliness, room assignment, and basic elite recognition. I don’t expect perfection, but I do expect a clean, properly assigned room — especially with advance booking and status.
