The breakfast was good, but choice a bit limited if you are staying for a few days. The site is at the top of a hill and to reach the town one has to climb an opposing steep hill - for us OK as walkers but some guests were imprisoned as there ii alack of taxi services in town (we tried twice to book in advance but both occasions impossible). I do believe this should be pointed out on the advert for the "Restaurant with rooms"

The room was cramped, very little space in the actual room and shower room could not swing a cat! Could have done with coat hooks on the door and a small desk was the only surface, taken up by the tea tray. I requested a quiet room and were given a room overlooking the kitchen roof with noisy extractors from 6an til 11.00pm. The restaurant served a game schnitzel which, when I queried this minced portion was rudely told "no-one else has complained", - I explained that schnitzel is a german word for a slice, the Manager (actually assistant manager) insisted i was mistaken and they buy fillet at top price and mince it!!! She was "frosty" with me for the rest of our 3 night stay - unpleasant. I eventually met THE Manager, Sarah, who was apologetic. The Cliffe continues to have an AA 4 x stars logo at its entrance and it is definitely NOT a 4 star hotel, just a 2 rosette restaurant, where visiting lunch parties take over the lounge, leaving guests with nowhere to relax.

Lovely hotel, staff were friendly, welcoming & very helpful.

The only complaint I have is the shower was not great but overall impressed with the hotel.

The food at the hotel was good and the location is good being a short walk up into the town.

The room was chilly and the radiators were not getting beyond tepid. Due to some external lights and a number of flashing lights in the bedroom ceiling we found it difficult to sleep.

Clean, fresh , nicely decorated , comfortable beds & pillows , good location , free car parking .

There could be more comfortable seating in the lounge/bar area . Maybe a special at dinner ?

Location was lovely. Staff were exceptionally helpful. Had a couple of great conversations as am looking to move into the area. Great advise given. Room was clean and comfortable.

The location is stunning as it’s close to well established local walks along the River Teme. My room was overlooking allotments at the back with adjacent fields where cows were grazing. A tranquil setting with no noise. Cask ale is available in the bar which was very enjoyable. Very kind staff

A bit old fashioned in this digital age with keys instead of digi cards to secure the room. Restaurant was souless so ate elsewhere. Shower was pointing towards me when I turned it on and I was unaware so the water went all over the floor which suggests lack of attention to detail.

Lovely, peaceful area. Rooms were comfortable, but not really at a standard of £140 for the evening. Although it couldn't be helped due to the building, one of the bedroom windows couldn't be opened so airflow was a little difficult. There was also a huge coffee stain splattered up the wall next to the bin. The shower had also seen better days and needed a bit of a clean, and was incredibly small. The images online, although are accurate in terms of furnishings, make the room look much bigger than it actually is and so upon arrival I found the room to be much smaller than images suggest. I found the bed very comfortable, and couldn't fault the staff or the breakfast. Little touches however would really go a long way at this price point.
