The Swan Taphouse

Quirky but clean room in old building. Good bathroom with bath. Great view of the River Severn. Very nice breakfast at pub a few yards away included in the price.

Breakfast went well and was very tasty. However, it was provided by The Malthouse, a partner tavern, which was a short walk down the road, and not by The Swan Taphouse.

On arrival, it was unclear where to park, we had to drive past, turn around and try again. Then, once inside, there was no obvious place to check in. It was very chaotic, and there didn't seem to be anyone in charge. There were two young women behind the bar who appeared to be adding to the chaos. We waited a long time before a young man came in, and he showed us to our room. He showed us the fire assembly points, the residents' entrance, and told us where breakfast was, and said there was no one in the building from pub closing until noon the next day. If I were travelling alone I would not feel comfortable using the residents' entrance after dark. The carpet on the staircase was filthy, and the walls were chipped and peeling. Our room was not what we had booked; it looked nothing like the pictures for the room type, and when I questioned it, he said that all the rooms were like this one. It smelled stale and musty, and was so sparsely furnished that the bedside lights were literally light bulbs hanging from power cords. The bathroom had no hooks or towel rails, nor did it have anywhere to put any toiletries. If you are looking to be close to the bridge, then look elsewhere; this is about as far away as it gets on the Wharfage. The only positive thing I can think of about the room is that it was very spacious and had a river view. Oh, and it was inexpensive - which I realize now should have been a clue! So, I'm glad we didn't pay more than we had for that room.

Location was great and parking was a nice bonus. Room was comfortable and clean.

Access via back door and stairs up to room needed some attention, as rather tired looking and not very clean. Food was lovely and good value.

The property is in a superb location overlooking the river Severn. The room was a great size and had all the basics needed.

The room needed a caretaker just to fix the niggles. The bath was not sealed properly and looked grubby, the bathroom door did not shut and was coming apart and the windows did not close fully. I know it is a very old property but these little things just took the sheen off an otherwise great stay.

We didn't stay , however we were accomodated by the sister pub along the road which was ok , great staff but a room above the towns main music venue meant for a noisy night until around 12pm.

When we were shown to the room the stairs carpet was dirty & smelly, the room tired with one light bulb and a tired looking bubble bath with a hand held shower.

The location was perfect for our needs. The off road parking was ok for our 5 motorbikes

The room was basic and is in need of a lick of paint etc. The beds are horrible and not comfy. They need new mattresses urgently. The single bed i was in, the RH side of the mattress is flat and the LH side is normal thickness so it was very uncomfy The bathroom is dirty with dust clearly not cleaned out and Carpet in park of the bathroom....really !!

We know it. WiFi and smart TV. Location near everything

The toilet door wouldn't shut or lock, not nice when sharing, and needs sorting asap. The bath wasn't clean, needs a proper scrub, and dirty under the rim of the loo. Window wouldn't shut, it wouldnt pull in to latch. Needs sorting immediately, especially as some frantic noise and ducks in the morning Cleaner🦆 forgot to leave tea bags in the room. Needs hoovering around the edges of the room, not just in the middle. Noisy springs on beds, ok for singles but not sharers.
