Pestana Promenade Ocean Resort Hotel

Lovely hotel with excellent friendly staff. Breakfasts were good, and staff attentive. Outdoor pools and surroundings were beautiful. Only downside was bathroom in our room a bit outdated with poor shower over an awkward bath. Noisy air-conditioning. But all in all an excellent holiday.

We had a lovely room. Views were great especially from the breakfast terrace. Staff go above and beyond to be helpful.

Apart from the good breakfast there is little to recommend. On arrival I complained about the room but was told there was nothing that could be done unless I wanted to pay more. The furniture was falling apart, paint falling off and bathroom tatty. When I opened the shutters I realised why they were there. The pathway for everyone ran right past the window. The hotel are well aware that rooms 1030-1040 are poor as the workmen arrived shouting down the corridor at 8am each morning whilst working in the adjacent rooms. It was a real shame that no one wanted to sort out the complaint. £175 a night in early March is not cheap for Madeira and far better options are available. I will return to Madeira but not to any Pestana hotel. In response please don’t try the usual hotel bs about trying to accommodate me. You didn’t. A plate left in the room with some grapes and a banana didn’t make up for hard beds and a tatty 2 star standard.

Amazing ocean view, very friendly staff. Breakfast was very good. Location is good, with downtown in a walking distance, but also plenty of Uber and cabs around.

The restaurants of the hotel had a limited or not so great option: either a buffet or a supposed Michelin guide restaurant that didn't met the expectations. But there are plenty of restaurants nearby, so that's not a limitation.

We recently stayed at the Pestana Promenade hotel and found all the staff very polite, helpful and friendly and a credit to the company. In particular we would like to thank Dalila Rodrigues for her help and kindess with various issues. We booked a room overlooking the swimming pool but unfortunately the room allocated suffered some issues early in the mornings with a lack of hot water so we were offered an alternative room. The reception area looks impressive as does the bar and restaurant area. Though the maids did a good job of keeping our room clean the heavy curtains needed cleaning and the room would definitely benefit from some refurbishment. The dining staff were very effecient in taking drinks orders and clearing away the used crockery and cutlery quickly. The food selection at breakfast was very good though like most Brits we would have preferred English bacon! We also booked an evening meal as part of our package and though the choice of salads and desserts was very good unfortunately the main courses though plentiful were generally not as good as we expected as we would have preferred more fish and meat content. One other comment which was made by a previous reviewer regarding the 10% service charge being automatically added to all the drinks purchased, which though optional, in our view it would have been better just to increase the price of the drinks.

Expensive parking when free spaces gone. Shower in bathtub, despite large bathroom.

Wij hadden een kamer op de begane grond. Daarbij een kleine prive plek ipv balkon en het fijne is dat je redelijk beschut zat en toch zo naar het zwembad kon lopen. De douche was ook heerlijk. Schoonmaak was goed.

Koelkast deed het niet. Enorm veel stof in kast waar koelkast zat. Voor mij 1.90m en 110kg lag het bed niet zo fijn. Kreeg pijn aan mijn heupen.
