The Reef Retreat

The Reef Retreat setting is very nice and tranquil. The only drawback for us was our room was a top floor one. We had lots of suitcases due to our cruise before we disembarked in Cairns. The location is very good and close to many restaurants. The room was comfortably and had everything we needed.

Customer service was disrespectful and the service person at the front desk was rude and impolite. Rooms were nice apart from the service person when checking in and out was very disrespectful and rude. Will not be staying here again.

A lovely place to stay. Very leafy and calm with a fabulous outdoor kitchen on our balcony. We had a spa room and it was very spacious.

Felt like i was deep in the jungle with all the trees and the room was massive.

Perfect location and space to stay for a quick getaway. The room was set up nicely for what we needed with a bed, bathroom and convenient outdoor cooking space and area. The pool was close to the room and a lovely spot to relax

Good room quiet paths were the only issue as they were very uneven so had to watch where you walked

We loved our stay — the apartment was comfortable and well planned, and the trees in the central court provided shade and coolness. Will come again.

Lovely surroundings in the better end of Palm Cove. Beware some apartments are on the 3rd Floor with no lift.

Beautiful apartment, perfect for our stay in Palm Cove. The apartment was spacious and tastefully furnished although a little tired in places. The beds were comfortable, along with bedding and pillows provided. The kitchen had everything you needed and the laundry facilities were great as Palm Cove was just the start of our tour around the East coast of Australia. The apartment was perfect for what we wanted and I’d absolutely recommend it to a family travelling to Palm Cove. The only draw back I’d say was the pool which looked dirty - not somewhere I wanted to swim in and not somewhere I wanted the kids to go in either which was a shame. It looked as though it hadn’t been cleaned in quite a while. The only other drawback was the rather unhelpful man at the reception desk. We arrived late at night and so followed the instructions to get the keys and diligently returned to the reception the following morning to check in. When my husband explained that we couldn’t find a welcome pack, Wi-Fi code etc. he was told that it was definitely there - in an abrupt and generally unhelpful way. We couldn’t find it anywhere and it was only on the last night, when my son found a ‘hidden draw’ in the coffee table, that we finally found it. On another occasion, I asked for some advice to book a taxi for a barrier reef trip and again the response of the receptionist was quite negative. I was told that I shouldn’t have booked the trip through Trip Advisor from the UK and made to feel a little idiotic. Reluctantly, help was given and a taxi was booked for us (which I was thankful for) but the customer service was hugely lacking which was disappointing.
